Calgary radio talks about why Tkachuk definitely shouldn't go to New Jersey and I'm gonna be honest with you, it's nearly impossible to argue with their logic. Man. We're out of the running.

Lemme guess: they make fun of Newark and call us names?

he said that there’s a dude in the 1960s who purchased napoleon bonaparte’s wiener at an auction so if Tkachuk comes to NJ he might get his wiener stolen.

I mean he would be playing in Newark, the odds of SOMETHING getting stolen are pretty high.

Not Devils related but owner related, really surprised the city is even entertaining this when they have perfectly good arenas already but it's gonna be privately funded apparently...

Seems...unnecessary?  Wells Fargo Center isn't THAT old (opened for biz in 1996), and has undergone renovations and updates...including a bunch in 2020.  If the idea is for the Flyers to move there too, then it makes more sense.  But considering that you've got Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, MSG in Manhattan, and Pru Center in Newark...guess Philly can make two arenas work.  Still just feels unnecessary.

Ever go to an event in that arena when both the baseball and football stadiums also have events? Miserable.

Yeah that probably sucks.  At least out here, the stadiums and arenas aren't all in one place.

Went to a concert at Wells Fargo, it got out at the same time as events in the other two parks. Got stuck in one place trying to leave the parking lot for an hour and a half. Did not move an inch for 90 minutes.

Ive been reading other hockey forums and while i think there's a chance that St-Louis gets him. He'd for sure want to go there. Its amazing how little they think they'd have to give to get him. lol and they legit thought trading one year of tarasenko plus a first would get it done. Some not willing at all to trade Kyrou.

I do think the return will be smaller than people expect though. Based on the proposed trades for the Devils ive seen here. Many will be surprised i suspect

Because Tkachuk has all the leverage. If he said ‘I’ll only sign with St. Louis’, it kind of bends Calgary over a barrel.

Many will say “we could have given them more, Fitz sat on his hands”.

I suspect the return will be low cause the Flames will ideally want maximum return. For that they need to get him to agree to an extension. And he can be as picky as he want saying... i won't go there, won't go there, won't go there. And maybe would just want to play for one team. So they'd have no leverage at all.

I mean, we've seen this happen with the Rangers how many times?

I agree, but people will ignore that and say what I said lol.

Don't do this to me.  Not again.

I remain intrigued by the possibility, but right now I guess I find it hard to believe that Tkachuk is going to say "It's NJ or nowhere, make it happen!"  Maybe some of the other teams in the running can't clear the cap space, but I'll be very pleasantly surprised that a guy with this much leverage will be intent on coming here.

Basically, those odds surprise me.  Like I said elsewhere, I can see Tarasenko being dealt here to open up space for the Blues to sign Tkachuk.  If anything, the Devils have the cap space to...help some other team potentially land Tkachuk?

Why does it feel like we always have to be the helper and not the winner. We’re the DUFF (designated ugly fat friend) to the slamming blonde piece of ass.

What information are they even basing that on? I am just skeptical.

I am not a gambler and it is just crazy to me that you can basically put money on anything now. All my friends are into it. With the way sports betting and the new monetization models in most video games/computer games are these days I wonder if we'll see massive spikes in gambling addictions over the coming decades.
