StarDew
I stumbled across this new league on CBS. It is really different. No fighting, 3 on 3, penalties awarded penalty shots and other stuff. Ed Johnston is CEO. Former players are coaches and some familiar names as players. Not starting this thread to be a "let's make fun of this league." Looking for some thoughts. https://www.3ice.com/ https://www.sporttechie.com/3ice-hockey-league-experimental-rules-technology-fast-paced-games https://www.3ice.com/teams https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/33842599/3ice-hockey-league-reveals-inaugural-rosters Edited August 20, 2022 by StarDew Added link
Nicomo
I love 3-on-3 OT, but I don’t think I’d want to watch an entire game of it.

Game is two 8 minutes halves. Very short fast game. Multiple games per tour.
Colorado Rockies 1976
Might check it out in a “Why not?!” kind of way. Can’t see it sustaining my interest…curious to see if an audience develops for this.
Devil Dan 56
I’d check it out if I have nothing going on. I still think the NHL should move to 10 minute 3-on-3 OT in the regular season.

Satans Hockey
A replay is on CBSSN now and I turned it off because the entire boards being digitally imposed ads that actually move and change during the game is absolutely putrid(just like soccer boards but even worse cause it's brighter since it's digitally imposed) and it's something the NHL will probably eventually do and I'm surprised they haven't already. They also had music being played the entire time which nobody in their right mind actually wants to hear. Sounds like an NBA game. The NHL did an experiment at the Prudential Center a couple of years ago. They had the regular ads but had a yellow cast (film?) to them. I couldn't figure out why but later found out it was for digital ads. I don't know if the digital ads were on the tv broadcast or not. The yellow boards were jarring.

The nhl also doesn't seem to need to use they yellow ads they had used those years ago cause they still use digital imposed ads here and there. Devil Dan 56
Apparently former Binghamton Devil (and arguably one of the top 4 Brodeur goaltenders in history) Jeremy Brodeur was one of the 3ICE goalies. Cool to see him still playing.
