He's a FA currently having not resigned yet according to his agent on twitter, I really hope the Devils sign him now to the Muk deal they did last year. This way he can stay another year playing in the KHL if the Devils want him to approve other parts of his game as Guadana has mentioned he needs to do, and also him not signing a new deal for years where he becomes a less available prospect. I totally get the not wanting him to go to AHL, even though selfishly I would like him over here so if he is ready next year we can put him in the line-up, but as long as they sign him now they can decide together what the best path for his future is. Chimaira_Devil_#9
Artem Shlaine going back to NMU. Had his best college season so far almost doubling his points total from last season. He had 32 points (11g 21a) in 38 games.
Chimaira_Devil_#9
Chase Stillman's season is still going. The Pete's defeated Stillmans old team Sudbury to move on to the next round of the OHL playoffs against the Ottawa 67's. In the regular season he put up one less point that he did in 2021-22. So a bit of a disappointment. Will be interesting to see what his next move is. Have to imagine it's on to Utica.

It's even more impressive if you have paid attention to Utica and how mostly below average they have been the past few months. He is scoring more, while at the same time keeping his plus minus as the second best on the team way, only one less than his d partner who has played 20 less games. I know plus minus bad to most folks, but it still is a positive thing to see for me. Does anyone know if the Devils can call him up if the Utica season is over and they are still playing just to skate with the team, or do they need a paper move to do that? nessus
Has anyone heard anything about Holtz? He has been out of the Utica lineup for a while now but there wasn’t any disclosed injury as far as I’m aware.

Colorado Rockies 1976
Nemec up to 6 G and 10 A over his last 17 GP (for whatever it’s worth he’s a -1 over that stretch). Obviously don’t get watch any Utica games but hard not to get excited as hell about both he and Luke playing with the big club next season. Not sure about the state of Nemec’s overall game, in terms of the possibility of him making the team right out of preseason.

Oddly enough, the guy who seems most likely to receive a new contract of the guys who need one on D is Brendan Smith. He’s serviceable and I would be fine with him in the lineup as needed when the young guys struggle. I think we all know Severson is gone and at this point, I can’t see spending money on Ryan Graves with the improvement Bahl has shown

And yeah, said it a bunch and agree, Seves and Graves are goners. They’re going to get paid…Seves because he brings some offense, and Graves because he has a +40 and +34 season under his belt. And neither one is old…they’ll get 4-5 years and at least $5 million AAV (probably more). No reason for the Devils to go there. Oh jeez, I just assumed that he was on a one year deal. it wouldn’t hurt to add one more 7th defender level guy for a million or so in case injuries occur to Hamilton, Marino or Sigenthaler simultaneous with any of Bahl, Hughes or Nemec struggling

And that would make perfect sense.

He already had the top defensive reputation but this year he is scoring at a very high rate for his age in one of the best leagues in the world. I don't see the Devils spending any money on another D when they will have Vilen in Utica, unless you're talking about a trade where they get another guy who is young and can also play in the AHL, then maybe. Patrick Sundstrom Ghost
Besides Nemec who has been great in the second half, Clarke has been so consistenly impressive as well in the second half for Utica. He has earned a legit shot at making the team next season and if Tatar wants too much money or term, I think he has a good chance at the 3rd line with Meier joining Nico and Mercer. Yeah, but we’re talking about a depth guy that is really just insurance for injuries or kids not looking ready. Ideally that player is going to be sitting in the press box most nights. I don’t think that’s a situation you want to put Vilen in. It sounds like a job for a vet who is just happy to have a contract in the NHL for another year, possibly even a two way if we consider Smith insurance option #
