The first one called off was absolute bullsh!t as well.

The thing hat gets me about that was that they called it no goal on the ice. I personally don’t think it interferes with his effort to make the save, but it was a split second skate touch, they made that call in the moment??

The media pays attention to the Devils?

Only when they play Toronto, ironically.

Again though, who cares? Why do we as fans care about what the media says or other fans? I sure as hell don't.

I do, personally. I like when the Devils get positive national coverage.

The win streak ending at least makes things go back to business as usual. Players don't have the added pressure anymore or have to field stupid questions by the media. I really wanted to break that record, though.

Good thing the first of the new streak is Friday.

Devils Twitter botched that too, saying Saturday, forgetting the Sabres.

You guys can do whatever you want. Go ahead and be embarrassed about that and look me in the eyes and tell me that doesn't happen in every single barn in the national hockey league. When the Blue Jays had one singular bad call go against them in the playoffs a few years ago and there were ten thousand beers on the field.

I was embarrassed for ten years of embarrassing play, empty buildings, lackluster teams who folded like a cheap suit.

I'm not embarrassed even a tiny bit. That place was STANDING for the last 7 minutes of the game. A sold-out game against a non-division opponent on a wednesday night in november.

I'm not embarrassed either, but only because I wasn't the one throwing things, and those people don't represent me.  The only thing I have in common with those people is that we apparently root for the same team.

I'm a passionate fan. I think all of us here are.  And I'm a male with a fair amount of testosterone in his veins. So yeah, I will get angry at times, and maybe I might chuck a hat in disgust, or something that won't hurt someone, but you won't see me lobbing beers onto the ice, or worse, at players.

That type of stuff, unfortunately, isn't unique to the Devils fanbase.  It's not even unique to this country.  It's the world we live in, and I might be in the minority when I say this, but I do have some faith in humanity and I think that type of stuff is the exception to society and humans, not the norm.

I’m disappointed that one of the first two disallowed goals should have counted, at a minimum. The third was a kick. I hate it but it was.

they played uphill from the first TO goal

It's so tricky. Cause on paper, those were are "good calls" based on the black and white explanation in the rulebook.

A penalty is issued when an attacking skater makes contact with the goaltender, impeding, limiting or altogether eliminating his ability to protect the net and stop the puck.

On the first goal... this happened... There was indeniably contact with the goalie and he couldnt slide his pad like he would of normally. Ruff tried to make the argument that it deflected on our player? Not sure why cause that's not changing anything to the fact that there was contact in the crease and it limited the ability to move in his crease.

Problem is... this is so inconsistently called that you sort of get use to some flexibility in those calls. So that one is the only one that i could see going either way, it just didn't.

The 2nd disallowed goal well. He was straight up hit/tripped and fell while he was trying to get in position to get the puck. Thats also interference

By definition, Goalie Interference in hockey is a penalty called when an opposing player initiates contact with the goalie, whether intentionally or unintentionally, and therefore impairing the goalie’s ability to move freely.

Furthermore, this penalty can be called whether the goalie is inside or outside of the goal crease.

The goalie in hockey is not allowed to be hit by a player. There is no instance where the goalie is 'fair game' and allowed to be checked like a regular skater, even if the goaltender is handling the puck outside of the crease area.

And the 3rd goal well

(i) A kicked puck that deflects off the body of any player of either team (including the goalkeeper) shall be ruled no goal.

So fans are ABSOLUTELY ALLOWED, i even encourage it, to go around pretending we were robbed of 3 goals if its making them feel better. By all means, get it tattooed on your chest too. But it's just straight up false lol

That's why i think the off ice officials had a bad night as well.   I don't see anything in that play that suggests that Murray was prevented from otherwise making the save.  It actually looks like the puck was going wide of his pad until it hit Bastian in the skate and went in

Except for the sh!t clearing attempt and subsequent goal, yes.

EDIT: he also failed to return to position leaving the shooter wide open.

Well, Vanecek gave up the first career goal to a guy named Pontus, so which is worse lol?

I’m not sure the contact eliminated his ability to protect the net and stop the puck. So I disagree with that call.

The other two were kind of obvious, and the only error on the Tatar play was that Tatar wasn’t penalized.

There is no question Bastian’s skate contacted Murray’s, inside the crease. But that wasn’t why he didn’t stop the puck.

Let’s also point out, the no-goals were called on the ice and upheld on review. So it’s not one of those times where people are chanting “ref you suck” at a ref who actually made the call in our favor and it got reversed by someone else lol. Accurate chant, finally.

That is the one that really infuriates me, more so than the other two. That goal absolutely should’ve counted.
