First time in a while they won when I made the GameDay thread.  Happy to be making another one.  Team played really solid last night through all phases.  Hoping they can repeat that effort and don't show signs of fatigue since it's a back to back.

Nice to have Vanecek in net, although Schmid was really sharp last night himself.

This team scored 6 goals on us last time we played them and they were our last loss before the long streak.  Let's take it to em tonight and show them we aren't the same team they saw a month ago.

Let's Go Devils!

What's the xBT(expected beers tossed) for tonight?

Gonna be a packed crowd again, the refs better have their game on point or our fans will be aiming for their heads once again. We owe the caps a beating for that last game on our ice and we need to get a bounce back home ice win to make up for those 2 points stolen from us from those rat bastards in Toronto.

LETS GO DEVILS!!!

Hoping to see someone else enjoy a long fruitful GDT streak of his own…one game at a time.

Schimd has really impressed. Although many would just attribute it to a much better d core in front which is true. LGD!

Much better d-core but it also looks like Schmid really put some work in this off season. He looks much calmer and sharp, really seems to be focusing on positioning and angles.

It takes a combination of the two.  Good D and good goaltending.  I’ve always been a fan of Schmid.  He is calm in net, is rarely out of position and rarely allows a rebound.  I hope people remember the ridicule I received for last season when I suggested he get another chance.

I know MB will get another chance, but I would love a VV/Schmid tandem.

I'm a notable Blackwood apologist, but I am not hating Vanecek/Schmid right now. They both look equally capable right now.  Sound positionally, good rebound control, don't get phased when they give up a goal.

Agreed, it’s not just the defense that has improved his play.

I am too but Schmid and Vanecek are making it hard to pay Blackwood this coming offseason unless he really takes a huge step when he’s back.

It's too early to make that claim IMO. Schmid has been great but we've seen countless goalies come here and being amazing for a short period of time from the get-go but we know it can get ugly fast too

Very true, but every game that Schmid plays like last night makes him look like a much cheaper alternative. If they send him down when Blackwood comes back just for Blackwood to stumble, they are going to have to make a decision. I’d love for Blackwood to come back playing well and make it a very difficult off season decision

Well something the league in general learned last year is that having 2 strong goalies is not enough
