Thank God they are playing away. I'm convinced that having that amount of Rangers fans in our building today gave us the away game luck 😂

Satans Hockey
Jack really should become our first goal scorer to hit 50 in our Devils history. He's just too damn good not to at this point. Edited January 7 by Satans Hockey

Rob_Ottawa
Kane would be fantastic, but they would likely want Luke or first round pick, so not a good deal.

Now way in hell any team in this league is giving up a prospect as good as Luke for a rental. Maybe a low first but not a prospect with that much potential.

Agreed with the first sentence, but I also think that there are a few teams that are in the prime/late stages of their cup window that will be willing to give up a lot more for him than what the Devils should be this early in their development. Now, if we could get him on a three year deal this summer… Edited January 8 by Lateralous
Colorado Rockies 1976
So just got home…my daughter and I went with my best friend (a Rangers fan) and his son (also a Rangers fan). Not gonna lie…down 3-1, I was PISSED. Furious. Felt like yet another home loss was coming, and it just did not feel like a comeback was in the cards today. TBH once the Devils made it 3-3, I was actually pretty happy that they had made it a game. Ditto happiness once they got it into OT. When they actually pulled off the win…pure fvcking ecstasy. They NEEDED this so badly…SO badly. Couldn’t be happier for them. Still don’t think Ruff serves much purpose here, but that will sort itself out in time. This is Brunette’s gig, just a matter of when. Jack…what else is there to say? With all due to respect to everyone else ever to wear a Devils jersey, this guy is simply on a different level…we’ve never had a guy like this to call our own. And this kid is just getting started. His contract already looks like a ridiculous bargain. There’s just no shortage of superlatives. He’s a New Jersey fvcking DEVIL. Love it. But less so when the Rags fans all sauntered out of the building when they were sure they had this one sewn up at the second intermission.

My biggest problem with all these jerseys is that we had such a sea of red going for awhile, today was a perfect example of why I hate all these different options. Now we have people in reds, blacks, these reverse retros, etc. It takes away from the whole crowd looking the same. Majority of the sh!t bag Rangers fans wear wearing blue so they stood out more than they have in the past.
MB3
Managed to record this game and watch it later without finding out the score. Will post my thoughts soon. Didnt watch in real time because I played Seminole Golf Club. Anyone who golfs knows how special of an opportunity that is — the course famously once rejected Jack Nicklaus from becoming a member lol. Played the tips at 7,200 and shot an 82. Feeling like I’m 10-feet tall right now.

Nicomo
I know the Hart is probably McDavid’s to lose at this point, but it’s time to start seriously putting Jack in the conversation. He’s now 8th in the league in scoring, and a couple guys in front of him like Karlsson and Thompson are on teams that likely won’t make the playoffs.

I think you nailed it though, nobody is beating McDavid this year unless something happens to him. That said, who is more valuable to their team, McDavid when the Oilers also have a 60 point guy right behind him in Draisaitl, or Jack? if I had to answer that question, I would say Jack.
mfitz804
Edited to add, as of tonight, Jack is on pace for 100.45 points/82 games.
Nicomo
It would be pretty cool to even see him finish top 2-3 in voting at only 21 years old.
Nicomo
Can I also just say how much I appreciate having Bill Spaulding? I accidentally recorded the Rags broadcast, and holy sh!t is Sam Rosen brutal. What an absolute fossil.
MB3
the bad: our bottom pairing. okhotiuk is bad, but he’s better than bahl and smith. smith is an insult to hockey at this point and directly contributed to 2 goals against. jesper bratt’s entire game except for that wicked shot. he was invisible except for the 3rd rangers goal where he was supremely visible for letting his defenseman (Miller) skate untouched to put home an easy goal. not good enough, dude. he’s been getting points lately but they’re secondary assists and insignificant. the team was flat and disinterested for the first 60 minutes. i’m sorta out on ruff. dougie hamilton’s defense. the goals are nice. being clean beat all night by guys is not nice. fix it. the hideous jerseys the good jack hughes. he’s 21 years old and dominating the league. imagine him with real linemates? jesper bratt’s shot. what the hell was that and why didn’t he show it to us until now? fire that multiple times a game please. nico, vanecek, holtz, siegenthaler, and mcleod all had noticeably good games that weren’t rewarded on the scoresheet. the jack “show off the crest” and severson’s nasty celebration were the best i’ve seen in a long time. shame they’re in a burger king jersey. Nicomo
Okhotiuk probably had the biggest hit of the game though. At least from the Devils side. I’ll take him over Bahl right now without question.

I didn’t think Holtz particularly stood out (good or bad) but man is McLeod playing well lately. I thought he was the 2nd best Devil on the ice after Jack.
