Gallant won’t be unemployed long. He’ll have a job again by next week.

He's still under contract for 2 more years I think. Why wouldn't he be in a hurry to get back. Take va break, & get paid in full til next one comes along.

I BELIEVE if they mutually agree to terminate the contract, he's unrestricted.

My complete assumption is based solely upon players when them and the team utilize unconditional waivers for purposes of buyout. Player becomes a UFA, team isn't on the hook for the cap.

Barry trotz was let go by Lou.  Trotz was still under contract, received full amount owed. I think the only time it can be waived is if you get another coaching job. Lou had to pay Trotz whatever was remaining on his contract.  I think also, "mutually agreed to part ways", does not get Rag$ off the hook. Same thing for Darryl Sutter, He had another year & they must pay him full amount.  Rag$ could care less about $$$ owed. They have plenty. It's not like you or I getting fired from our jobs

I just saw the draft lottery is tonight. Sure is nice we’ve been focused on actually playing hockey in May instead of all that.

Hockey gods please send Bedard to Anaheim and not Columbus.

Would be pretty cool if Bedard and McDavid were in the same division.  But yeah just keep him out of the Devils' conference.

Ah sh!t I didn't see you guys were discussing this here, just created a thread for it.

But yeah, let's have Bedard go out West please.  Not in the metro.

Talking about the Rangers on the NHL Network and their UFA/RFAs were discussed.

What would you sign Lafreniere for?  I’m thinking 2 years $2.5 million AAV.  Being that he has yet to put up 40 points and just put up donuts galore in the playoffs, how much more is he really worth?

I don't think this joke was made because of his race but why is espn making jokes about guys names period when they are supposed to be promoting the sport and marketing it? Nobody watches sportscenter for the jokes...

Yeah. It isn't easy. They can harvest your own cells to grow new cartilage or use cartilage from a cadaver. Recovery can take up to a year to get back to normal life. Doesn't always allow for heavy duty. People usually go for some type of TKR which is more career ending. Wish him luck. Knee surgery sucks.

Living in the Philly suburbs, all of our company’s employees are Flyers fans.  The one summed this up perfectly this morning:

“I hear this guy making fart noises on the radio show on my ride in every morning and someone thought “hey, this is the guy we need to lead the Flyers turnaround!”” It was followed by a flurry of F bombs.

So funny

Seriously was it Eeny Meeny Miny Mo or Rock Paper Scissors that led them to choose those two?  Did the Flyer organization just pair up a bunch of ex-Flyers in a water balloon tossing contest, where the winners get to become the President and GM?

Does anyone see those two lasting three years?!  Not that I mind one bit but god-DAMN that "organization" is fvcked.

Yeah, it’s coming.

Apparently it’s coming sooner rather than later.   One thing I learned today while gleefully listening to Toronto radio is that Matthews, Marner and Nylander all have NTC clauses that kick in this July 1.   If they are either not moved by then or don’t have extensions done, each one can ride out their contract straight to UFA.   Talk about having all the leverage.   It will be a fascinating early summer in Leaf land.

I also didn’t realize things were so dysfunctional in Winnipeg.  Sounds like Wheeler probably isn’t wanted back and there’s some other guys that need to be moved.

I thought the whole point of Matthews was he is a UFA on July 1st. He can't both be UFA and have a NTC can he? Was it Tavares?

Either way that sh!t suuuuucks. I think they have blow up the defense corps and make a change to the core forwards. I think one of Nylander or Matthews is on the way out.

For all the draft capital they had at one point. I wouldn't call anyone on their defense "elite". Even Morgan Rielly was pretty meh all season. I have no idea how someone fixes their d corps or if they don't renew Dubas, who can come in and fix that mess. They don't have any draft capital to pick up defensemen and develop them and that's a hole in their roster imo. Their defense just isn't anything special really and the playoffs are notorious for singling out and exposing the defensemen around the league to tough play.

Not even going to start on the goaltenders. They can't afford much.

Matthews and Nylander are UFA after next season, then Tavares and Marner the year after that. That’s their big 4 forward contracts so changes are coming whether they want it or not.

I stand corrected, thank you. I also don't see Rielly being kept around.
