AND then buying him out eliminates one of Arizona’s salary retentions for the duration of his original contract because they retained part of his salary in the trade. So the Rangers cannot use their usual buddies to save them next deadline.

Too much controversy with the gay pride ones, so they got rid of them all. I understand the motivation

NO justifiable reason to ever ditch the HFC warmups.  None.  It’s one thing to kill all of the “pride” jerseys, even if it’s one pride warmup in particular that some objected to.  But who in the hell was ever against the HFC games?

Woooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaa

Can we have Jossi at max retention next?

The Preds have an insane amount of draft capital over the next couple of seasons…this year alone they have two 1st-rounders, two 2nd-rounders, three 3rd-rounders and three 4th-rounders.  If Trotz wants to go the Shero route and try to turn a second-rounder + other picks into a player who can slot into their lineup right away and help, he will certainly have that opportunity.

Definitely too high. I’d put both Dahlin and Nico ahead of him.

Jack being up there with the elite guys is so satisfying after some of the abuse both he (and his defenders) took early on.

I’d say a good chunk of the “abusers” simply had almost no patience when it came to giving an 18-year-old rookie (who clearly needed to gain muscle and adjust) some time to develop, or were simply inclined to be negative about all things Devils.  We had that idiotic chart comparing Jack’s first season to several other 1OA’s first seasons…as if that had any significance or ability to forecast.  Some fans can’t grasp that not every 1OA pick takes the league by storm right from his first shift.  Some actually have to deal with some growing pains for a few years.

Jack basically needed well under two seasons’ worth of games to figure sh!t out and show the world why he was the consensus #1 pick of his draft.  He turned the corner pretty damned quick, really.

The above being said, even though sometimes ya gotta be patient, if I’m a Ranger fan I’m wondering (and worrying) plenty about Lafreniere.  At least with Jack you saw clear progression each season.  If Lafreniere doesn’t make some SERIOUS progress this season…

I do remember the artist still known as Sterio saying that he saw him play in the Q and that even with Lafreniere’s bloated numbers, that what he saw didn’t really impress him.  Maybe he was onto something.

Seriously, that’s like being stupid enough to deal John Marino for Ty Smith and a third-round pick…

I don’t understand this move at all.

I think you’ll have a hard time finding anyone who does understand it.
