Jeff Petry traded to the Red Wings from the Canadiens, after he was traded from the Pens in the three-way deal that landed the Pens Erik Karlsson.

This was the guy that Hextall just had to dump Marino’s money for, so that there would be cap space to add Petry lmao.

On a side note, I had no idea that Jeff is the son of former MLB pitcher Dan Petry.  I actually remember him with the Tigers…guy had a very nice start as a younger arm, before grinding away over the last half of his career.  I remember him being part of that Tiger bunch that won the World Series in 1984.

Yeah, if you can move a forward or two and an NHL defenseman for Shieflele(sp?), you'll see them pull the trigger. Both Boston and WPG want to still go for it I think. Both teams are still invested in their cores.

Sure as hell no reason to pay top dollar for Pastrnak and McAvoy if there’s no intention of trying to compete, that’s for damned sure.  But yeah gonna take some serious creativity on Boston’s part, as they don’t have much of a surplus to deal from.

I added a little to my previous post, there isn't much as far as player assets. Maybe future picks can be sold off, but I don't think that Sweeney has the creativity to get it done. Maybe Zacha can be convinced to waive so WPG knows they're getting something back. Maybe Zacha, Debrusk, Swayman gets it done too and you get Zacha to waive his NMC.

There's some talk about some young Bruins prospects coming up and maybe they get moved too. I've heard they are quite high on Merkulov and Bussi.

They just extended Zacha too…his new deal hasn’t even kicked in yet.  I suggested maybe Zacha going back in a deal but I get the feeling Sweeney doesn’t want to give up a cost-controlled, prime-years 2C at this point.

This is going to be tricky AF for the Bruins.  They may have to ask the Jets to retain part of Scheifele’s hit for this season, but man is that going to cost them even more in future assets.  But they gotta get someone worthy to play alongside Pastrnak.

As Mel Allen once said, "How about that?"

True, I'm likely the oldest here.  At that time, we didn't have many channels. I saw Mantle/Maris in the old Yankee Stadium. One of my younger brothers was a huge fan. Me mum asked me to take him. Went to a couple Giants games there too.

He wasn’t for everyone but I enjoyed his calls.

I am currently in mourning, along with all Sabres fans.

Pour some out for my homie Rick Jeanneret. Will probably throw on a "Best of..." at some point on youtube.

RJ drove me nuts when we sucked (by our high standards in the mid-late 00s) and the Sabres were getting good (scarrrry gooooood), but he meant a tremendous amount to many in WNY including some of my best friends whom I made in college.

A toast to his over the top calls and ability to call a game so well on TV it was always simulcast over the radio.

Rest in Peace, RJ
