I can't remember if players who have NHL/AHL experience can participate. Anyone can participate, theoretically. But doubt Luke would play as he is a projected NHL starter. I don't think that is true. I am pretty sure the player at least needs to be rookie status.

I don’t know think the organizers have a hard line where they would have a problem with say a Jack Hughes if he decided he wanted to play. More visibility for the tourney and better competition. I think I found an article I can trust and it says ELC eligible players only, 20 or under, NCAA not allowed but Europeans can attend.

Days like today when they have columns like "World Jrs U20 Gold"...no chance on those.
vincois
Watching NHL yesterday, Mike Rupp still thinks Devs should consider/pursue Hellebuyck. That they (Devs) haven't closed the door on another goalkeeper. I'm wondering if a goalie will drop on waivers? Not sure of the pecking order. I'm OKAY with VV & Schmido.

I said before last season started, and it rings even more true now with the Top 6 Fitz has assembled; if we can get league average goaltending (barring disaster) we'll be just fine with VV/Akira

I got all of those and none of the Jets crossovers. I am realizing I do not know much about the Jets, Arizona, Minnesota, and LA outside of the years they were good most recently. Those are the teams I struggle with the most. When the Jets come up I immediately go to trying to remember Atlanta. I feel like Chevy has a reputation for not making mylany trades. I couldn't even remember them trading outside of the most recent one to LA, NYR, and CBJ.

Funny, re: the bolded...I do that too...for one the other day, for Chicago/Colorado, I came up with...goaltender Jacques Cloutier (played for the BHs and Nords). I've gone the Nordiques/Whalers/Original Jets/Thrashers route too here and there...broke out Kovalchuk for a Canadiens/Current Jets one. Yeah there's some teams where I REALLY gotta think hard...and still I can't come up with anything.

Seriously, thank whoever that there’s limits in place, in terms of how much a team can spend, and how many years that they can offer a player. Because you just KNOW that GMs would be recklessly handing out 10, 11, even 12-year deals if they could…they just can’t ever help themselves.

Sounds like he's going to have to be sold on signing up for max term to stay in Vancouver. And I get where he's coming from: Vancouver Canucks Salary Cap, Draft Picks, and Player Contracts - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps The Canucks are going to have plenty of money to spend in the years to come (after this season)...but who exactly will they be spending it on? It's not an empty cupboard, but I'm not sure there's all that much in house that screams "Lock 'em up!" Do the 'Nucks try to snag any high-priced UFAs after this season, along with trying to keep Pettersson? That's why 2022-23 was so huge for the Devils...finally having that "Turn the corner" year that's allowed the guys who had been here for 3-5 years or so to see some light at the end, and to believe that those darker days are behind them. Pettersson has to be reaching a point where he needs to see something similar, over the course of a full season.
Nicomo
Man it’s so nice to already have Jack, Nico, Timo, and Bratt all locked up long term. Now I just need my Bengals to get Joe Burrow’s extension done soon…
RunninWithTheDevil
I really hope the 'nucks panic and lock a lot of money up, and then find themselves having to move Quinn in a few seasons

Now I just need my Bengals to get Joe Burrow’s extension done soon… If it's one thing that NFL franchises rarely fvck around with, it's locking up franchise QBs (or even guys who remotely resemble a franchise QB, in some cases). Can't see the Bengals not taking care of this. 54 minutes ago, RunninWithTheDevil said: I really hope the 'nucks panic and lock a lot of money up, and then find themselves having to move Quinn in a few seasons That's just the thing, re: the bolded...with the Devils, we knew it was going to be "OK, gotta sign Timo, gotta sign Bratt, figure out what an extension might look like for Dawson at some point, then down the line it will be Luke, then Nemec...", and we knew that Fitz already had some sizable contracts on the books in Jack, Dougie, and Nico that he would have to take into consideration as he assembled the core that figures to be a here for quite some time. Basically, we knew who the cast already was, and what it was very likely to be. With the 'Nucks...who are those guys? Right now they have JT Miller locked up for 7 years @ $8 million AAV, and Quinn for 4 years @ $7.85 million AAV. Outside of Pettersson, who's a prime candidate to get big money anywhere he goes, who do the Nucks have in house that's going to be getting a massive raise anytime soon? Maybe Kuzmenko (he's a UFA in two years)? If some select others stick around, they'll get bumps, but nothing crazy. What I'm curious to see is do they try to piece together a "Right Now" core to join Miller, Quinn, and if they re-sign him, Pettersson? Do the Nucks try to make a big UFA splash or two that's going to eat into their cap space? They probably CAN...they have so many guys coming off the books and so little players on expensive long-term deals that they have a LOT of directions that they can go in. Re: Pettersson, if I'm him, there's a part of me that's gotta be thinking, "Man, I really don't want to be the next Tomas Hertl if I'm staying here."
