Nah I'm good on that one, he's still a disgusting moron who posts dumb sh!t like this below. Shame on Johnny and Jenner if they knew other guys on the team were upset and still defended a coach they should have had no loyalty towards.

No one is asking you to like him, but he was catching a lot of sh!t for breaking this story (unfairly), and not only did it turn out to be 100% true, it also resulted in getting an even worse person out of the league. So good on him for that.

Yeah I'm fine with Mike being tossed from the league, he's clearly a moron.

Biz also threw Jenner under the bus by originally naming him and that's why Jenner had to make that original statement. Really curious to know what Jenner actually knew in terms of how his teammates actually felt and if anyone actually complained to him about it.

What a mess for that team, definitely feel bad for Severson after having to deal with being on a sh!t team for so long here and now he walks into this sh!t show after we finally turn the corner.

At the very least, he no longer has to play for Babcock!

It's interesting that the NHL can be so "woke" in a few areas, but something practical such as "privacy policies" they are not.   All organizations in the USA, irrespective of their level of wokeness, have some sort of harassment training to help prevent legal action or liability to avoid lawsuits when situations like this transpire.  For example, I have to go through Anti-Harassment training refresh once per year via web-based courses, even though I've done them for almost 20 years straight.

I know an NHL coach is considered kind of "immune" to these types of situations given their role as an authority with the club, but in today's age, the damage an ignorant individual (like Babcock) can cause to both the club and the league is enough to warrant that this type of training or familiarization is done.

Surprisingly, if it was a mistake made out of ingenuine ignorance on his part, not sure why he just didn't come out and apologize to his players (in private) and then via press conference later on.  I guess the club saw irreparable damage given his past that it would become too much of a distraction for them to navigate.  I'm curious to see if they paid him some sort of "severance" to leave?

By the way, does the IIHF or NHL require coaches to obtain a license to coach?  FIFA does, so a coach cannot become a coach until he/she gets a license from FIFA, where I assume training on issues like this is conducted (minus the Luis Rubiales kissing Jenny Hermoso incident).

But, one thing's for certain, Babcock is finished as a coach, on TV, and in any line of work with the NHL.  His reputation unfortunately precedes him.

My two cents: The NHL is only "woke" insofar that it advances them from a marketing standpoint. We saw last year how far that went when a lot of teams walked back their pride night/hockey is for everyone stuff. They don't give a sh!t. The second that it hits the bottom line they'll pick the side of the fence that the most money is on. All companies are like this, NHL, NFL, Starbucks, Target, whatever. It's just marketing to them.

Others have said it but yeah, that's gotta be it for Babcock and hockey.  Funny how some people just find it impossible to get out of their own way, fail to learn from past mistakes, or ever take the time to think things through before acting.

Mike Commodore's gotta be loving this...

One lingering question from the whole Babcock mess...

Obviously Mike Commodore will continue to rail against Babcock and won't need much prodding to do it...at some point, for Commodore's sake I'd say try to move on, it's been over 10 years...but Commodore clearly hates the guy and won't ever try to stop people from knowing about it.

BUT, Commodore keeps using words like "predator" and "pervert".  At some point, someone's gotta ask him what the hell he means by that.  I don't think too many people who've been following this story would dispute that Babcock is legitimately off in some way, and that his coaching days should be over, permanently, so not defending Babcock as far as his job goes.  Or trying to imply that he's some swell guy who's unfairly getting the shaft.

But what exactly makes him a "predator" and "pervert"?  Regardless of what people think of Babcock, those are terms that really shouldn't be thrown around so nonchalantly.

I do think Babcock is a predator-- he preys on people he perceives as weak and exploited his power and position to humiliate and bully them. The Marner incident, this most recent incident, the Mike Modano incident, the incident with Spezza, and the ones that was reported to have happened with the player in ANA where he told a young guy at camp that he should enjoy his time taping his stick on the bench cause he'll never be there again.

As far as pervert, going through phones of young guys on your team looking through their pictures is at least non-zero levels of perversion.

I do not speak for Commodore, though. Just throwing in my 2 cents.

What you say makes perfect sense and that’s pretty much what I think Commodore was going for, but I still feel like he should really clarify what he means if he’s going to throw those specific words out there.

I agreed that Babcock is a predator, While not in the sexual sense, he is using his power over people to exploit and control.

The Chiclets team had a much different and more professional today when discussing the fallout. Even Biz was saying yes he was over the top with his vulgarity but it still does not change the fact what was said to him was by someone who played for Babcock when in Toronto and someone on the Blue Jackets today reached out to him to tell him it was still happening. They 100% regretted outing Jenner by name too and apologized for that.

But an EXCELLENT point they brought up is what if one of the players was gay but has not decided they were ready to tell anyone yet. Say they had a photo of them and their significant other and Babcock sees it, based on his actions now, he'd hold that secret over the player and manipulate the hell out of them.

I'm only about 45 minutes into the episode but they did get serious when talking about the fallout and their approach to what broke.

I couldn't sleep for a while last night, so I listened to a chunk of this episode (first time I ever tuned in to Spittin' Chiclets).

Yeah you pretty much summed it up, but what becomes clear is what an odd duck Babcock really is...and how calculated he is and has always been (in the worst way possible).  When it came to the whole cell phone crap, he would purposely go about it much differently with his GM and vet players, than he would with younger players...the younger players would be too intimidated to speak up about their experiences and how that made them feel, and the GM and vet players (if asked) would simply say "Oh well Mike did the same thing with us, and it was fine, no real big deal" (even if they thought it was a little weird).  That fvcker knew exactly what he was doing the entire time, bullying those that he figured wouldn't or couldn't dare fight back...and when you heard Bissonette & Co. talking about it on this podcast, it really makes you realize what a power trip this P.O.S. was on.  Glad he's been exposed, and that those BJ players can now play in a fvcking much more normal and reasonable environment.

Also some more kudos to Spittin' for ripping apart Babcock's statement, which basically amounted to "Sorry not sorry, it's not really me, it's everyone else, I'm only stepping down because no one can really handle me."  Obviously the stories have been out there for many years (and Spittin' did a GREAT job yesterday in showing how many players got fed up with his mindfvck nonsense over several seasons, in previous stops), but goddamn...what...a...complete...d!ck.

Spittin' also did a fine job explaining that none of this was about "cancel culture" or "young players today are too soft/can't handle 'old school' coaches", and detailing the differences between a coach that expects a lot, yells a lot, and can be tough to play for (like a Tortorella), as opposed to a creep like Babcock who obviously has no concept of boundaries or respect.  It really was an excellent episode.

Didn’t realize he co-founded Bio-Steel.

Yeah I didn't know about that either.  Can't say that Cammalleri is one of all-time favorite Devils...man was that not a good signing.  He was exactly what I expected him to be...injury-prone and very unlikely to get through 5 years without declining.

One last blurb about the whole Spittin' podcast (forgot to mention this)...they really made it a point for people not to dismiss Commodore's comments due to "Well, he's had a hard-on for Babcock for years because he kept getting scratched, he couldn't accept that he wasn't good enough anymore, maybe I shouldn't take him too seriously, after all he seems kinda loony!" sentiments some fans might be having.

And they did an EXCELLENT job really trying to get through to the "Quick to dismiss by default" crowd, especially multiple factions of it:

No, this is absolutely not a case of soft youth not being able to handle playing for an "old school" coach.

No, it's not some case of a bitter ex-player taking shots at his former coach just because he had an axe to grind or wanted to make his ex-coach look bad for the hell of it.

No, it's not about someone being unfairly canceled due to management buckling to some mass with an agenda.

And since some were definitely thinking "It's only Spittin' Chiclets, should I really take them all that seriously?", I'm sure Spittin' themselves were sensitive about being dismissed or somehow making too much out of something to get attention.

It made me realize how difficult it can be for people to come forward in cases like this...we're so used to people being "canceled" even when it doesn't seem to be fair or make much sense that it's easy for some to not bother to familiarize themselves with what's actually happened, and to almost reflexively blame the victims.  Glad to see this incident was resolved the way that it should have been.  And Chiclets played a big role in that happening.
