Man they're gonna be gassed after this stretch.  Crazy schedule.

Lightning struggling right now.  No better time to pounce.

LGD!

2-5-2 in their last 9...outscored 37-24.  The two wins came against the Flyers and Blackhawks.  So yeah would be nice to at least win one of these next two games.

Given how they are both playing, do we just alternate goalie starts for the time being?

Why not?  VV has already set a career-high in minutes played, with 16 games still to go...and Schmid has played well.  Can't hurt...especially with such a busy schedule through the end of the season.

Mentioned this before but if the Devils get to a point where their playoff seed is locked in, they can give Blackwood a start or two, if VV and Schmid could use a little rest.

Ruff said something during the last post game press conference like they basically aren't practicing during this stretch to give the guys as much rest as possible

Helps explain Meier's relatively slow adjustment to the team/system.

Aside from the battle with Carolina, it feels like the Devils are essentially locked in to 1st or 2nd seed (or if they fall to 3rd, they would probably still play the Rangers.)  I think we're going to see the lines mixed around a bunch in order to try some things out and see who fits with who going into the playoffs.

How do the Leafs plan to integrate like 14 new players into their lineup when we're having this much trouble getting one guy settled in?

Yeah first or second.  Really hard to imagine that they'll fall behind the Rangers...a 10-point gap with only 16 games is pretty hard to make up.

Speaking of the Rags, check out this article off NHL.com...this guy Dan Rosen must work for that franchise, heh heh...what a shill.

State Your Case: Can Rangers reach Stanley Cup Final? (nhl.com)

Tarasenko has 14 G in 53 GP (on a 22 G per 82 GP pace), and Kane has 18 G in 59 GP (25 G per 82 GP pace).  That's not nothin' but this friggin' guy is making it sound like these two are firmly in their primes.  Monster performers?  REALLY?!

The below quote is just too funny...Danny boy, did you happen to notice that the Kid Line hasn't exactly been lighting it up much lately?  I don't think the Rangers should really WANT to keep them together at this point.

Rosen: It's funny how we underestimate talent. The Rangers have loads of it. Let's remember who they added before the deadline. They didn't add depth guys to fill out a lineup, they added stars. Kane and Tarasenko are exactly what the Rangers needed all season, two right wings to fill out their top-six forward group so they could keep the "Kid Line" of Filip ChytilKaapo Kakko and Alexis Lafreniere together. They did it by getting two monster offensive performers. The Rangers have the extra gear a team needs in the playoffs. They can score that one more goal to make a difference. They will score it. It's OK that they're not firing on all cylinders yet. That was kind of expected. They haven't scored more than three goals in the five games Kane has played with them. But, and this flies under the radar because of the offensive talent, the Rangers also have not allowed more than three in each of the past three games. The offense will come. The players are too good and too creative for it not too. The Rangers will find their chemistry and they will score. Watch them during this five-game homestand that starts against the Capitals on Tuesday. I'll guarantee you that by the end of it we're not talking about their lack of scoring.

Dan Rosen did a really good interview with Fitz last week.  The podcast is at the bottom of this article.  The interview starts at 17:00.  Definitely worth listening to.

Sure it would be nice, but I don't kid myself about the Lightning...they're not THIS bad (shouldn't be, anyway...just like the Devils weren't as bad as their 1-7-1 funk back in December).  They're going to bust out at some point, or at the very least start stabilizing.  But yeah of course I'd like to see the Devils win the next two...they should be coming in with plenty of confidence.

At least the snow isn't sticking so far and it's supposed to stop around 5pm so should make it easier for everyone going to the game tonight.

The snow is great for someone like me who is waiting for the ticket prices to drop :D
