All I wanted was to see Jack hit 100 points, and for the team to win one round in the playoffs. Looks like I’m getting neither.

Winning the first round wasn't a requirement for me until they drew the rags. I could handle losing to any other team without much of a fit...but losing to them... Nah.

Losing to them in this way?

I havent felt this bad about a Devils playoff loss since 2006 when they choked against the Canes. As much as I'd love to see them win a game at MSG I just dont see it happening. The Rangers are going to be out for blood now and this team is on life support. I just want a new coach (i.e. Laviolette) to get this team on a winning path in the postseason. The Rangers look great now...but can they keep this up for another 3 years when Krieder and their top players are 34 years old? Possibly, but that'll be our time.

In 2006, the Devils simply ran out of steam after getting on that insane roll to close out the regular season and sweep the Rangers...they didn't choke in losing in 5 to the Canes.  You're thinking of 2009.

They’re both bad! Nic Wallin, Eric Staal, pick your poison. Staal killed us both years.

Oh god, 2009… I’ll never forget having our hearts ripped out of our chest with that one…

I wonder if in 15 years we are questioning why Miles Wood and Brendan Smith were dressed like we question why we used our checking line for 20 minutes in game 7 in 2009.

Not saying that both didn't suck...just that in 2006, it wasn't some choke job...Devils were down 3-0 in that series before you could blink.  In 2009...well, we know how quickly that fell apart.

Sadly we were all questioning why Wood and Smith were dressed BEFORE THE GAME.  As my esteemed colleague @MadDog2020 pointed out as we were discussing/venting/lamenting last night...why is it that friggin' FANS know that dressing Wood and Smith IN THE SAME fvckING GAME against a team with a KILLER POWER PLAY IS A REALLY REALLY BAD fvckING IDEA?!  Is Lindy actually shocked that it went the way that it did?  If so, screw Game 3...just fire him right now (I know this won't happen of course).

We also knew pairing Graves with Kreider was a horrendous mismatch going into last night too… and not once did it get adjusted, cause Lindy.

Graves has really played himself out of an extension here (he was a longshot to get one anyway)...sucks, I liked what I saw out of him at times, but he's shown that he's a guy who becomes expendable when a team is ready to shoot for higher levels...the Avs didn't hang onto him (I know the cap plays a role, but I also know teams damned near ALWAYS find some way to keep the "Vital to the Cause" players), and it looks like the Devils aren't going to either.  Sure is nice to have Luke and Nemec in the system.

Speaking of Luke, if Siegs can sit for a game (for fvcking SMITH of all people...really Lindy?!), then Graves can sit for Luke in Game 3.  Maybe it doesn't work, but I'll certainly understand rolling the dice.

I think it’s a classic case of overthinking and outmaneuvering themselves. “The simple answer can’t possibly be right so let me use my big Lindy brain to continue running into this brick wall”

That 2006 loss was hard to take because of how hard it crashed. We didn't choke it away but personally, I found it harder to accept than the 2009 Game 7 debacle.

Right. 2006 they got steamrolled 4-1. 2009 Marty got beat with like 2 seconds left. Both were horrible memories. This recent ass kicking is feeling even more embarrassing.

This series will probably go down as one of the worst of all time, I'd say.  Getting swept by the Rangers, getting completely embarrassed on home ice.

I mean having a "Devils suck" chant ring out at HOME - does it get more fvcking embarrassing?

Hard to envision a worse two home games.  Honestly, this is probably about as bad as it could've gone.

This is why I wanted no part of the Rangers.

Barring Trouba decapitating Jack at center ice, yeah, this is about as bad as it could’ve went.

For the amount of size we have on the back end, we are really easy to play against.   Has Krieder even been touched when standing in front of the net?   As you said, for the amount of money he's going to get, we need to do the same thing the Avs did and move on from Graves.   It is what it is with Hamilton because of what he provides elsewhere but we can't have a second 6'-5" defenseman that lacks physicality.

We've already started to see glimpses of it but hopefully Bahl develops a real nasty streak going forward because that would be a huge asset for the Devils given the structure of the rest of the team.   He could lock himself into a full time permanent position on the 3rd pair.

Then those wouldn’t be real fans. I would understand booing but I would never say “Devils suck!”

To be fair..... NJ have sucked prettyyyyy prettyyyyy bad these first two games. And the real insult is the Devils fans still doing the Rangers suck whistle chant as they are literally kicking our asses. Idiots.
