The Dog Days of Summer Series - #1 - Choose Your Own Goal Song

As promised, I had a few ideas for posts/threads to keep conversations going during the awful time between free agency and true camps opening.

Scenario: You've joined the Devils and they have decided to be like a few other teams and dedicate goal songs to individual players.

Task: Select two songs: one MUST be from the 80s or earlier.

Note: You cannot choose Howl or R&R pt2.

Bonus Challenge: don't use any current goal songs from around the league.

Example:

80s or earlier: Flash Dance (What a Feeling) - Irene Cara

Actual: the outro from the end of Epic by Faith No More --or-- the chorus from Square Hammer by Ghost

It doesn't directly answer the question but for 80s or earlier but I've always thought, if well timed, that Led Zeppelin's When The Levee Breaks would be perfect for goals where it's clear the flood gates are about to open.  Imagine hearing that heavy drum beat kick in right after the Mercer goal in game 5 vs the Rangers or the Haula 3rd goal in Game & vs the Rangers.

For the actual, maybe Andrew WK's Party Hard?   There was a upbeat Google commercial a while back where I thought this song worked perfectly.  Having this start up right after the horns would probably work well.

80s or earlier:  On The Loose (Saga)

Actual:  Orgy's cover of New Order's "Blue Monday", first with the snare drum fill, then the heavy part of the song a couple of times, followed by the "How does it feel?" part 4X or so, heh heh.

Basically starting at 3:31, but with "How does it feel?" being repeated 4X or so, instead of ever going to "to treat me like you do" (which would make no sense).

@Lateralous I can't say I'm some huge Andrew WK fan but I've always liked that song a lot.  It's just so goofy and fun...the perfect party anthem.

I can't really think of a song from the 80s or earlier that stands out to me as just have to have it kind of jam for a goal song, probably because 60s/70s rock doesn't lend itself well and then I'm more into 80s hair metal and pop than any heavier metal from the 80s. Vancouver has Simple Minds and Toronto has Hall & Oats and while I love those bands/songs they just make sh!t goal songs.

As a modern day song, I have always been jelly of the cats goal song Sweetness by Jimmy Eat World. Just so nostalgic for me given how big that song was in my teen years and it appeared in a copy of the NHL video game. They didn't use it last season and instead had individual goal songs, so technically it's not being used right now...

I did enjoy that some of the guys on teams who elected to use personal goal songs this year had a good time with it. For instance, Jeff Skinner on the Sabres picked "Man after Midnight" by Abba and not only was it pretty good but it's also just funny.

Very big NHL 03 vibes with sweetness, love it haha.

i made my 80s selection as funny and cause the end scene in the Internship made me laugh with this scene being played. Plus I like running to it. Side note: I reluctantly watched that movie with my roommates a decade ago, and was shocked that I really liked it.
