I'm really excited to see Luke Hughes continue to develop. He's going to be paired with Hammy or Marino through most of the year and I legitimately believe that spending a good amount of time with Marino will do wonders for Luke on the d-side of the puck in terms of his development.

It's going to be great to see him develop this year. I think he'll likely be partnered with one of Marino or Miller for most of the year (guessing Marino). As dominant as Luke-Dougie would be offensively, I'd be pretty nervous about that pair defensively.

I heard some of the Chiclets guys (Whit and Biz) were predicting that the Rags might miss playoffs this year if they don't get big contributions from the young duo of Kakko and Lafreniere. If they get hit with a bunch of key injuries such as Shesterkin or to any of those key guys such as Panarin, Zib, or Fox, they could get into some trouble.

Whit predicted that they might struggle and be a wildcard and are not contenders if Kakko and Laf don't take a step in development this year or if the PP gets off to a rocky start. Biz straight up predicted that they could miss playoffs and regress. Can't wait.

Also re: Chiclets, it was great to see Hischier out of his shell a little bit and it was still nice to hear about Switzerland. I think it was nice that it was in-person.

Agree that it's a little disappointing that it's so old and not from more recent, but still a welcome surprise to be sure.

I think barring a lot of injuries or a serious off-season from Shesterkin (or of course as you mentioned, an injury to Shesterkin himself), I can't see the Rangers not making the playoffs.

But it's like I said previously, it's feeling more and more like come playoff time, it's either Shesterkin carries them almost completely, or they're toast.  And yeah, still too reliant on their PP.  I pretty much feel like we've already seen the "best" that their window has to offer.  And yeah it's REALLY become crucial now that Kakko and Laf start to do more; the guys who were still fairly young when those two came aboard no longer are.

Rangers will not miss play off, only if a really big part of their leaders will be injury. But every team will miss play off in this case. Devils will miss if Nico and Jack will be injured. Buzz and Whitney are complete not smart guys with iq 69.

Anyway they really need another steps from Kakko and Laf, because they listed to us not because Shestyorkin wasn’t good enough, but even with Shestyorkin who played on his head. Wheeler will make some help. It’s regally strange that hockey players are trying to play with rangers again and again even when it’s a famous star graveyard. He could easily got better deal with better team.

Asked you this once before but you didn't respond, but just curious...I remember it was "Shestyorkin" when there was talk about him eventually becoming the Rangers' goalie, and then when he finally arrived, his last name became "Shesterkin".  Why the change?  Any ideas?

And yeah for some reason playing for the Rangers in NY in the most overrated arena in sports will always have some level of universal appeal...doesn't matter if the Rangers represent the best chance for a player to win, or if there's a destination that makes more sense, some players just gotta wear that blue if the opportunity presents itself.  Some franchises just enjoy a lifetime sex appeal, for whatever the reason.  The Yankees have it.  The Mets don't (though they're now in the position to try to buy it).

If I recall correctly, there are some Russians names that the player will anglicize a little to make it easier on everyone, but it's just the way the name is spelled in Russian versus English. Just different phonetic representations of trying to get as close to the Russian pronunciation as possible.

I'm sure the player kind of gets to decide what the best version that gets put on the jerseys.

That was one of my favorite series wins ever.   For us to come out and look so overwhelmed the first two games and then watch the team quickly round into an absolute wagon by the end of the series had to be an all time soul crusher for all of their fans.   They already had their tickets punched to the 2nd round, if not further, after game 2

I also feel like the Ranger fans cemented themselves as THE douchiest fanbase in the NHL with their behavior in our building throughout that series.  They are just the absolute fvcking WORST.

Every fanbase has clowns-- including ours. I saw a couple Devils fans in AZ acting like a$$holes. There was a video of a Devils fan getting what he deserved from a Rags fan during that series too. I saw a Devils fan throw his food at an Ottawa fan in that series we lost back in....2007? People are a$$holes, not fanbases.

The series where Sean Avery got into Brodeur’s head was the absolute low point for me in terms of away fan behavior.   That whole series was a nightmare

Absolutely all fan bases have clowns but the Rangers fans almost all come with a misplaced arrogance.  You would think a team with their lack of success would breed slightly more humble fans but they still all act like ‘94 was recent and somehow greater than any other Stanley cup ever won.

No fanbase is perfect, and I’ve pointed out the “mutants” within our fanbase.

But based on my own personal experience and observations, Ranger fans are the worst.  Doesn’t mean every last one of them suck and I know some cool ones that I can actually talk hockey with, but a lot of them…they just suck.

I know it's the evil we know but the soccer hooligans in UK and the brawls at 49ers games say it could be much worse.

Well with soccer if I had endure watching a sport where way too many games end in scoreless ties or 1-0 final scores and it takes NINETY MINUTES to get there…yeah I might riot too.

Yeah seems like NFL games in general see their fair share of fans fighting in the stands, parking lot, you name it.

It’s bad everywhere. We had that idiot headbutt another fan here in Cincinnati while he was already in cuffs a couple weeks ago. I’m sure some of you saw it. Went viral. And ofc that poor guy at the Pats game that got killed. People are nuts.
