I'm glad he was just let go and it was nothing more sinister. So odd that they apparently did it during the draft. Sportnet will tank within the decade I wager.

He is def one of the more popular guys in the NA hockeyverse.

Give them a new arena, in an actual freaking metro area and not in the middle of a transportation/commuting nightmare, and they can be successful. Their whiteouts were crazy and even when they made their last glimmer of hope run in '12 they had rabid fans. They just need a competent owner and a smart location people can actually get to.

This is probably more than a decade away because he's basically saying once the Suns need a new arena which he says will happen at some point they'll look into making it a 2 sport arena.

Personally I don't think any city should have 2 seperate arenas if they have an NHL and NBA arena. It's simply not needed and it's an absolute waste of space and tax payer money. These arenas and stadiums should, never, ever be paid for by tax payers when billionaires are the ones who make money off of them. sh!t should be illegal.

I read that differently.   I took it as they could put the Coyotes back in the original arena with all its flaws for at least a reasonable period of time because one person would own all the franchises.

They sort of referenced it but I believe a huge reason why they left America West in the first place was because they were the secondary franchise in an arena the Suns controlled which meant that the Suns were collecting a good portion of the concession and suite revenue generated from Coyotes games.   If the $$$ worked, I doubt they bolt for the cotton fields of Glendale just because of some obstructed seating.

And that’s exactly why Fitz is going to do as much as is humanly possible NEVER to tie up major cap space in his goalies.  Ideally in two years, one or both of the goalie slots are filled from within with guys on ELCs.  We’ll see if the Devils FINALLY develop such guys.

Apparently there's a leak of the commemorative patches that will be worn that night:

That's pretty much it for the Rangers, as far as their cap space goes...they had $5,123,476 left to work with prior to Lindgren signing.

Devils will obviously be in a similar boat once Mercer re-ups.

Over the next few seasons, the Rangers have exactly two picks to work with in Rounds 2-4:  their 2026 3rd and 2027 3rd.  That's it.  For now they still have their 2025 - 2027 first rounders, but hard to think that Drury won't happily cough one up for a Right Now piece at or near the deadline.

Don’t they still have to lock Igor up?

For next year and beyond, yes.  And apparently he's looking for over $13 million AAV.  Hard sell considering how erratic he's been the past two years.

That is why they are desperate to get rid of Trouba ASAP.

Cool, hope no one throws them that life preserver, and if they do, hopefully Trouba nixes it like he did the Detroit deal🤣
