I'll always be in favor of some kind of hybrid jersey...take the RR 2.0, swap out the yellow/gold for green, and the blue for black.  Given the number of teams that seem to be very happy simply going to back to past iterations (such at the Sabres and Flames) as their primary jerseys, if the Devils ever did go back to red and green, I actually wouldn't be that surprised at this point.  I prefer red and black, but if red and green is done correctly, I'm open to it.

Curious to see what happens when the Adidas contact expires after this season.  There will be a fair amount of new or tweaked designs around the league I would imagine.  I think fans have gotten used to the current Devils home and aways, but I don't think that they truly "sing" to anyone, and never did...I think they're just kinda there.  I think there's a very good chance the Adidas layout doesn't survive the transition to Fanatics.

IF (hopefully when) the Devils decide to ditch the current look, just one small request:  enough with "clever" references that 99% of the fans don't give a fvck about.  No sleeve stripes based on the Rockies.  No collar colors based on the Scouts.  And for the love of god no bottom hems based on the Newark fvcking Bulldogs please.

good stuff CR

Bratt and Nico are, correct.  Prior to this offseason, Wood and Seves had been here longer.

Funny, 2017-18 doesn't seem like it was all that long ago, but Nico and Bratt are the only two players left from that team.  KK's now back in the system, but who know if he ever actually appears in a game for the Devils.

So based on the above, I looked up Lemieux's 1995-96 campaign...crazy sh!t, that season.

So he opened up that year with a 28-game point streak - 29 G and 47 A

He needed just 38 games to reach 100 points (40 G and 60 A).

Out of 70 regular season games, he was held without a point just 7 times.  He put up 4+ points (including 7 TWICE) in 16 games, and finished with 69 G and 92 A.

In two words:  Holy fvck!

That team scored 362 goals that year and had SO much firepower...hard to believe that the Panthers were able to take them down in the ECF...somehow that Panther team held that Penguin team to 15 goals in a seven-game series, never allowing more than three in any one game.  Hell of a job to shut down a team that explosive.

The funny thing is that's pretty much what the Rangers are playing now.  I'm sure their fans are calling it "great team defense", as they always have whenever their team has implemented elements of the trap into their system.

I wonder if he will end up having any trade value as the season progresses, could consider maybe moving him along to somewhere else

I think it’s a tough contract to move.  Maybe to a team that is rebuilding that needs a veteran presence and to make the cap floor.

Devils aren't moving him anytime soon.  It's not about pure production numbers with him...Devils wanted a vet presence of their own who knows something about winning, who can show others how to raise their games during the playoffs.  Yeah it's not the most cost-effective cap hit in the world, but it is what it is.

Can’t argue with that logic.

So Holtz has made it through 11 games so far and has yet to be scratched.  That's a plus.

Overall, he's been a mixed bag, but in the way you would expect a young player in his first full NHL season to be.  He's had his moments.  You hope he can start putting up more shots (and become more accurate with the ones that he is taking).  Somewhat ironically, now that he's getting more ice time out of necessity, he hasn't registered a shot on goal in his last two games, but of course, that's due more to missing entirely...he's definitely attempting shots.

If you're a metrics guy, metrics absolutely HATE Holtz...his are by far the worst on his team.  Is that something to make a huge deal out of?  AFAIC, not really...small sample, and I still see a guy who is raw as an NHLer, but is doing enough to stick.  He's on the spectrum of "young, raw, and needs work", as opposed to "young and looks like he has no business being in the NHL".  This is absolutely a step forward for him.

Years ago when Jeremy Roenick was on Philly............they played a variation of the dreaded "trap:...............and he called it, "exciting defense"..........haha

Friedge reporting that CGY are shopping some of their defense. Pipedream- but I'd love Zadorov. I don't think Fitz will make any changes until closer to the trade deadline though.

Yeah that could be a nice "solid vet with experience" rental.

What would we have to move to acquire him?

Maybe a 2nd or 3rd round pick in 2024 or '25.

I could see any of the depth defenseman getting moved. Smith, or maybe one of the younger guys in Vukojevic, Misyul, Vilen, or Hatakka.

Pick and a depth player would probably get it done if CGY is ready to move guys. I don't think I want much as far as players from them, but Zadorov would be interesting to throw on a bottom pair with LHughes or Kevin Bahl.

Looking at a trade calculator, it says we would be over the cap by 1.9million if we move Smith, a depth Damn, and a 3rd round pick in 2025 for Zadorov.

Need to think what other salary you could ship out.

We are up against the cap. We can't bring in anyone being paid 3,4 mil or more without unloading roster players. People say trade Smith? (a team covets a player they make it happen) Doe's any team "covet" Smith?  Riddle me this, who are you willing to Jettison to get Zadorov?  I wish folks would consider cap situation before fawning over rumored "available" players.
