We’re going streaking!

Fresh off Jack’s 20th point, Bratt’s multi-point night and the emergence of some secondary scoring at even strength, they roll right into yet another back-to-back. Thank you again scheduling gods.

Expecting Akira, time to get a wake up game from him.

Big test for Schmid.  Both he and VV have to find last year’s form at some point.

Well, if there was ever a team to get “right” against, as far as giving up less goals goes, it’s the Blues.  They’ve been held to two goals or less in 6 out of 8 games, and have managed just 14 on the season; no player has more than two.

C’moooooon Akira!  Step it up!

What “worries” me about this game:

- it’s our THIRD freaking back to back less than a month into the season.

- we always seem to not bring our best against St Louis.

- Binnington will probably do something dirty when Jack and/or Bratt pot one tonight…

I’m not as quick to become as aggravated with the Devils are some fans are, but at the same time, I want to see this team stuff these guys.

Devils are young and had three days off before the back-to-backs…I know that bad teams beat good ones quite a bit over the course of any given season, so it wouldn’t be outlandish for the Blues to win this, but this is one that I just want to see the Devils take.

Hopefully no crap from Binnington.

And, and for all of the chirping coming from a select few:  regarding the Devils' goaltending so far this season:

Last year's Cup-winning primary Vegas goalie for the playoffs was...Adin Hill.  He'd never started more than 25 games in any given season and had a career .910 save% and a career GSAA of 4.5.  Basically he had not only been mostly average, but hadn't staked a claim to being THE guy prior to last year's Cup run.

The other Cup goalie?  Bobrovsky...ya know, the guy who in his first four seasons as the Panthers' goalie had put up a .905 save% and -12.0 GSAA, and whose contract was roundly being ripped due to the massive hit that came with it.

So though it's obviously great to have a top-notch goalie if you can develop one from within, it's not like you absolutely HAVE to have one to have success.  And sometimes guys DO raise their games...even when it's someone you're not expecting it to be...sometimes you have that guy (or at least a guy who has it within him to get hot for a while) but don't even yet know it.  To make this VERY clear:  this is not saying that VV and Schmid will be those guys.  But I'm not ruling out that they CAN'T be, based on 9 games (and in Schmid's case, seven periods of play).

Oh and Hellebuyck so far (the guy I'm sure that the loudest complainers think that Fitz should have been able to get, cap hit, age, and assets to get him be damned)?  .891 save% in 8 starts.  Just like VV and Schmid, it's small sample stuff, but this is why some people have to learn to let seasons breathe first, instead of making Captain Obvious proclamations about the level of play SO FAR in a short sample...yeah, everyone would like to see VV and Schmid stop more pucks to date, DUH.

It's funny...obviously a lot of tight, high-scoring games so far (with some nail-biters in there) but they've somewhat quietly won 5 of 6.  Yeah hope that they can keep it rolling.

You only need 1 goal more than the other team. I can live with that. 😀

It's nice that they have so much offensive talent right now that it never feels like they're out of any game.  I do think they'll start giving up less in their own end as this season progresses.

But yeah, it's been great that for all of the times that the other team was able to score three or even four...the Devils were able to score four or even five.  Works for me!

What about this game is must win?

Nothing.  If the Devils lose they'll be 6-3-1 and a whopping three points out of first.  They'll also be on pace for about 107 points.

Of course I'd REALLY like them to win (especially since the Blues always seems to be a PITA to play against...the Devils went 0-2 against them, but in 2021-22 swept them...go figure).  But yeah this game doesn't feel a must-win.  Unless you're one of those teams with expectations that's dug yourself a hole, not really too many must-win games on November 3.

I think they played better in their own zone last night.  There was more urgency.  Of the games I was able to actually watch, I thought last night was their best.  I also like the Palat, McLeod, Bratt line.

I hope Akira can find his groove.

Finally, it’s great to see Holtz with 3 goals in 9 games.  It’s time for Mercer to get going.

Let’s go Devils!!!!

I guess Akira Schmid is probably looking at it as a must win, but otherwise, yeah it is pretty much the opposite.

LGD!!!

Definitely a must win for him, time to show he can handle his job. Hoping the team atleast looks confident in front of him.

Holtz has looked pretty damn good, hopefully he just continues to get better as the season goes on. Mercer is way over due, just a matter of time there I think.

Purely from the eye test, I feel like Holtz keeps doing enough to keep getting more games.  Given his last NHL looks, I feel like this is definitely a major positive.

I know it's stupid but i will keep playing VV... I have almost no faith in Akira....
But hey, prove me wrong i would be more than happy !

If Akira struggles tonight, guessing VV gets the rest of the games on this trip.
