Assuming that’s a real pic (it looks to be), yeah, some heads need to roll at The Rock. That’s beyond fvcked. At the same time, this is SO in character for the Ranger franchise…yet another classic over-celebration. Wow, a November regular season victory! Doesn’t quite rank up there with getting beaten in the playoffs when the Rangers were clealry all-in, does it?
HughesCorporation
I have questions about that picture, first how is it that there are NO Devils fans in the arena at that time? Second who is that lady standing at the left side of the pic with tan pants and black jacket? she looks like an employee of the arena? and no crew workers (zamboni etc), getting all those people together to pose for a photo would take several minutes, you mean to tell me there were no other security people there? and that fan laying down at center ice, what is that yellow square blocking his face and why? Crisis
Not sure if it's the same group but in the thread this was also posted. Keith Dolan Group Photo? Looks like some Flyers fans also did this at some point?
HughesCorporation
Maybe the Rock has a policy, buy "X" amount of tickets, you get a group photo at center ice? We used to buy a bunch of tickets to Yankee games and get our group name on the scoreboard, so who knows?
NJDfan1711
At quick glance I thought that was the players posing and taking that picture, which I thought was disgraceful and stupid, but seeing now that it's just a random group of fans, it's still definitely very stupid, but I'm way less aggravated by it. I mean, who cares if they want to take some meaningless photo on our ice? As we've all said, it's pretty insignificant because it's a random game in November, and if anything it just makes them look pretty foolish. When your team hasn't won a cup in 30 years, I guess you'll celebrate just about anything. I couldn't give two fvcks where they take these pictures, as long as we keep taking them in May/June.
Satans Hockey
Those photos are definitely real. They do plans where if you do an x amount of group tickets, you can get a photo on the ice. The reason nobody is in the stands is because it's done after the game so they have to wait a bit because it's usually multiple groups. That's why there's workers cleaning trash in the stands. Anyone can buy group tickets so there's no way of really knowing who is a fan of what team. Any of us can buy group tickets at other arenas too, I just don't know if most places let you come on the ice for a group photo. That being said the Devils attitude towards these games is the main reason I don't give a sh!t about attending the regular season games against this team. It's generally an awful experience, I hate being around away teams fans. The tickets are way more money than every other game for my seats. Like my seats for this game were over $550 meanwhile another game will be $90. So these 2 games cost almost more than half a full season for 1 seat. It's ridiculous. I also just spent money on and attended 4 playoff games against them and 2 playoff games against Carolina. There's no reason an overall meaningless game in November should cost as much as it does and I simply can't justify paying over half a grand for it. The cost plus our own Devils front office attitude towards these games gives absolutely 0 incentive to give a flying fvck about attending them. Now if I win the lotto and buy the team I'm putting in away fan sections like the EPL and that will be the only place you can sit with away team gear, otherwise tough sh!t. I've said it before but I'm also a Red Bulls season ticket holder and I'm in their supporters section so I never have to deal with being near away teams fans(they aren't allowed in and are removed if they come in) and it's such a better experience. Same thing with their road games, I'm never around the home fans, I love it. Way back when I use to attend a ton of Devils away games, I loathe the experience now and have no desire to go unless it's a can't miss game(the final game in DC I only went to go see Jack try to hit 100, I'd have never gone otherwise and that was my first road game since the Devils at Islanders right before the trade deadline when Jagr happened to score goal 700 and I only went to that because of the rumors of Marty being traded at the deadline which was right after that game and I wasn't gonna miss his possible last game as Devil) I attend way more Red Bulls away games because the experience is simply better. I just don't like being around or talking to fans of other teams. Are there good fans of other teams? Of course but I still don't wanna deal with them. The Devils front office on the off the ice stuff has sucked for years, I've complained about it for ages. It's nothing new if you've been paying any attention whatsoever. Lateralous
As long as we don't ever see something like this after a playoff game, I have no problem with it if a large group has purchased that many tickets, especially in November. I know its all in fun but "conquering the rock like a band of Vikings" made me laugh. We're only 6 months removed from you losing your last two meaningful games there a combined 8-0 and those games weren't even as close as that score would indicate, especially Game 5.

I have just about the complete opposite perspective and viewpoint. Granted this is coming from the lens of someone who goes to 99% of games supporting the away team (I'm in FL and obviously root for the Devils), but even when I go to Lightning games against a random opponent, i.e. not the Devils, and I consider myself part of the home team crowd, I still have no problem whatsoever sitting next to fans from whatever other team they're playing that night. And yes, I'm also taking into account the fact that the lightning may not have as strong of rivals the way the Devils do against the Rangers, the Flyers, or even the Isles and Pens, but the lightning have a super passionate group of fans that they built over the last 20 years and things can definitely get rowdy. Still, I personally enjoy talking to fans of other teams, as long as it's civil, which 95% of the time it is. And for that other 5% of the time, I'm fully capable of taking any sh!t talking in stride, and what not. To me, it's all part of the experience and all in good fun. I mean, hockey is a competitive sport, and I think that competition bleeds over into us the fans while we're in the stands. I would be really pissed off if a team / arena mandated that I could only sit in a small section of the stadium. Not only would that suck from a general game viewing experience, but think about what that would look like on TV and in the arena itself. Personally I think it would be extremely lame. As the home team, if it's so bad to the point that you have to isolate the away team's fans into one little section just to give yourself that home ice advantage, well then all I have to say is shame on you (us). On the flip side of all this, I could definitely get on board with a small section in the arena that would strictly be for home team fans only. I could absolutely see where that makes sense if, in your point of view, you wanted to pay extra so that you didn't have to deal with away team fans, then by all means fork over that extra dough where you'll be guaranteed to get the experience you want. Nicomo
Yeah, as someone who regularly goes to see the Devils play on the road (Nationwide in Columbus) I don’t want to be relegated to a certain section.

I want to sit wherever gives me the best possible view. You dont have to think about it in terms of a TV experience, just turn on any EPL game and you'll see how awesome the away sections look, in fairness the EPL picks good seats, generally in the lower bowl to put all the away fans in. Looks awesome when an away team scores and those players go over to that section and it's everyone celebrating together. Here's a good example of what I'm talking about and now think about how awesome an entire area of red like that at MSG would look when Dougie scores that game 3 ot winner. As every year passes the less I want to deal with people on a general basis let alone away teams fans. I'm literally never going to another away game unless it's something of absolutely can't miss importance like a game on the road where we can clinch the Stanley Cup or Jack getting 100 points or breaking the Devils goal record / hitting 50 goals. I don't enjoy it, it's miserable for me and I do think if you experienced what it's like attending a game in an away section you're view would change on this. I've been to games in England and I've been to almost every MLS city as a visitor and it's just a night and day difference in experience in terms of enjoyment for me vs Devils away games or sitting next to away fans at home games. I would never pay more to sit in the home stand section because I literally pay less for that experience at the Red Bulls. The home supporters section is the cheapest section in the building. This is all a pipe dream anyway for me because it's literally never going to happen. It would take something monumental, like fighting to the point where someone dies to change the rules around where people sit. If anything I can see the NFL with all the issues they have in the stands actually doing something like this first.
