I'm sure this will be another crap show election season so just a reminder this is a sports forum. If you absolutely must post politics use that sub forum for discussions.

Personally, I think it's going to be Howard Dean (I have convinced myself it's still July of 2003 and the Devils won the cup)

Dammit hopefully Dawson is re-signed soon.  Because that will temporarily wake this board from its collective coma.  I get that it's summer and that we're to the point that there's not that much to talk about until Mercer's re-upped and preseason gets underway, especially now that we've had time to discuss and digest all of the moves made so far...but man, I really miss some good ol' fashioned Devils hockey talk around here.

Hard to believe babies born back then can now buy booze.  My nephew was 2 and my niece was a 1/2 year old.  One graduated college in 2023 and the other will this year.  Really wish I could hit the pause button on time, but it seems permanently stuck on fast forward.

Your favorite thing could make a comeback: Devils’ survivor… it’ll at least, in theory, bring daily traffic…

I get it, but it looks like no one has posted there in years, unless I’m missing something.

Just watched Civil War, didn't like it at all. The trailers really led me to believe it would be a completely different movie but the first hour is so slow and boring and basically nothing happens. Jesse Plemons had the most intense scene and almost all of it was shown in the trailer. Apparently he wasn't even originally casted for that part, the guy who was dropped out and since he was just hanging around the set because his wife Dunst is in the movie she said he should do it.

War is bad, we all already knew that and don't need to watch meaningless fighting to get that message across. There's absolutely no people around, guess everyone's just dead or left. The war journalists make some of the absolutely stupidest decisions. Just dumb.

Can't recommend it at all, if it's ever on just watch the Plemons scene and that's it. Really happy I didn't pay to see this one in the theaters.

Not even just that it's stuck on fast forward.  It seems to be speeding up each and every year.  I can't believe my oldest is 9.  I hardly feel like I'm older than 17 (mentally, emotionally, and spiritually)

Compared to when I was in my late teens:

A week feels like a day

A weekend feels like a half day

A month feels like a week

A year feels like a month

The older I get, the more I really try to live in the moment, because it seems like everything just moves too quickly.  I remember announcing the birth of my daughter on here…and in less than a month she will be 16 years old.  WTF?!

All this reminiscing got me curious, I just clicked on my profile and I joined this site 17 years ago this past Sunday. I still feel like a newbie here.

9/28/2005 for me.  By far and away the site that I've remained active the longest.  I tried HF and a different Devils site (forget the name) and neither took.  I've been on other completely unrelated boards, but never for all that long.

Looking forward to when things pick back up around here.

Also funny is that I'm sure we've all changed in a number of ways through the years.

For me, when I was younger, I definitely used to get into it pretty harshly with some members (most of whom are no longer here), with some real zingers going back and forth.  Then one day I just reached a point where it simply became BORING to do that, and I became a lot more interested in civilized debate and simply DISCUSSING.  I'll definitely lose my sh!t completely when things are going sideways for the Devils and thanks to the way @DevilMinder moderates the board I'm allowed to spew profanities in doing so, but I save my vitriol for the team, instead of getting into multi-post insult-fests with other members here.  This way feels better than the previous one ever did.
