I think people rank the MacLean goal higher because of the symbolism it represented; making the playoffs for the first time as a franchise was a big deal. Obviously the Arnott goal was bigger, but I get it.

Johnny Mac was criminally underrated as a goal scorer.

If he didn’t suffer that injury in 91-92, he might have been a 500+ goal scorer. Pretty damn impressive.

Jack 😂😂 dude never has any fvcks to give

Jack’s parents probably got an occasional phone call from the principal about their son being too much of a smart ass…

at which point they replied “Yes, we know”, heh heh

Caulfield always looks exceptionally excited to be on camera. He's really enjoying the ride.

Mcavoy is a weird looking dude.

Mercer at 3x4 is a good deal for both: he needs to prove consistency and continued progression, Devils take a little risk in him popping off an needing a significant raise in 3 years.

do it, fellas

I think Mercer’s season last year was just meh enough that Fitz should be able to come in under $4 million AAV.  Say $3.7 - 3.8 million.

For reference of that first silly stat, Brodeur never had 5 apples in a season.  He had 4A six times and 3A four times.

One of these goalies is either getting moved in a deal for another AHLer (I can see this happening with Daws eventually), or in a package for deadline help.  The fact that Daws' new deal calls for two years and is a two-way deal means it's not a bad deal for a rebuilding team to take a flyer on...lots of flexibility.

At any rate, it's a make-or-break season for Daws now.  He's playing to potentially be a part of the picture in 2025-26.

Fitz has definitely dangled the carrot for Daws to grab.  If he spits the bit with Utica this year, that will be that.  Next man up.

If he plays well, he'll be inexpensive and Fitz will see if he can get by with him as the backup to start 2025.  Like we've noted, Fitz is trying to keep his goalie payroll on the reasonable side.  He could potentially only be paying about $5 million TOTAL in 2025-26 to Markstrom and Daws.  If he has to upgrade in season over Daws, of course he'll explore it, but he's going to go with the in-house cheap option first.

Pretty sure that time travel does exist because I just walked by 17-year-old Cory Schneider.  Dude looked JUST like him.  Even had the ginger beard.  Not sure if he’s trapped here or waiting for a lightning bolt, but goddamn if that wasn’t HIM heh heh…
