Seeing as how I work in Medicare health insurance, the beginning of the season coincides with our busiest time of the year; so this reminder is double edged for me 🤣

Unless I am absolutely desperate I plan to never return to working for a company in the healthcare industry. It was the most depressing industry I have worked in by far.

I work at an incredibly laid-back print shop up here in North Jersey and the girl I used to work under quit her job here to go to a "better" print shop. They fired her after 2 months for consistently showing up late. She called trying to get her old job back, but her position had been filled (by me lol). Last I heard she was doing medical billing working with her mother at some hospital and now I'm director of the entire pre-press and digital press division. Sometimes there's equity in appreciating where you are.

Luckily, my career has been centered around corporate finance and accounting so I can move around to just about anywhere.

Last job was working for a startup in the healthcare space and I really did not enjoy it from an industry perspective. I am now more aware of the issues with our healthcare system, that I wish I was ignorant of, and I would never wish getting sent to 90% of these skilled nursing facilities, post acutes, or run down rural hospitals on my worse enemy.

Yep. Just how fvcked up healthcare in America is has been the biggest eye-opener for me after five years of doing this. It can be depressing; I try not to let it affect me, but it’s easier said than done some days.

No way around it, they fvcked up with Holtz. He gets a fresh start now.  We'll see what he does with it.

I see it more as a three-headed monster, two of which are gone and won’t ever be back.

Lindy chose the “excessive tough love route”, which would’ve been fine if he didn’t ignore other players who could’ve used a dose of that…Smith immediately comes to mind.

I think there were things that both Fitz and the staff were looking for that Holtz just wasn’t getting down, both during games and in practices.  And I think they were frustrated…at the same time, definitely not convinced Lindy’s the guy to be teaching anyone anything.

Anyway, I see a guy who’s taken some slight steps forward, but is still kinda slow and has a big very not very accurate shot, and doesn’t yet bring much else.  And yeah, we’ll see if another team and coach can get more out of him.

EVERY TIME we get a halfway decent beat writer, they leave. I’m honestly sick of it. Why the fvck can’t he cover both?

Bummer.  He had teeth.

Agree.  Unfortunately in this area, the Devils beat is kind of a stepping stone job.  Sucks but it’s true.

He looks like he’s not even old enough to drink.

TG, Gross, Masisak, Novo…it sucks. Not even counting the departure of Erika which also sucked.

Personally don't care who our reporters are cause I'm not all that interested in the day to day nonsense and it's not like any of our reporters are going to ever hold this organization accountable for anything. The closest we came to that was Novo making Lindy snap at him but Toronto also shows that having all the media in the city there doesn't do sh!t either.

If the fans want their voices heard they don't need some goof with a mic to do it for them. The fire Lindy chants coming back pushed a guy out who should have been pushed out long before that. If fans aren't happy they can speak with their wallet or their voices.

This is it a make it or break it season for Fitzgerald and if we don't make the playoffs Fitz and that useless goof in a suit and sneakers Jake Reynolds should both be packing their sh!t and shown the door for missing the playoffs and raising ticket prices.

It's more just wanting certain questions answered, especially in difficult times, and especially when certain guys are getting ice time and/or other decisions seem worthy of being questioned.  Novo was a guy actually willing to ask tougher questions, and do it in a way that was fair.  Some of the media can definitely do so in a way that comes off as smug and makes them sound like know-it-alls, and in such cases I can get why players and coaches alike don't appreciate that.

Overall I'm not unhappy with the Devils organization, but they do come off a little thin-skinned at times in general.  There's times where they should not only have to answer for seasons that don't know go according to plan, but actually be AROUND to answer in the first place.  I'm happy with Fitz's offseason and I think overall he did a nice job tweaking his roster, but yeah, no more mulligan seasons.
