2024 Offseason Thread - It’s FINALLY here

Recommended Posts

I love the way Fitz constructed this team over the summer. Have high expectations too. But confident. Best GM in the league.

Question: We (Devils) f'd up Holtz? Seriously?  He's not an NHL calibre player. .And won't be. He didn't get a real opportunity to win over the coaching staff? I will always remind my fellow Devil fans how they pissed and moaned about his playing  time, (occasional healthy scratch) how he was played (4th line)  I'm happy he's gone. I liked Zacha,  & glad he's gone as well so Devil fans can find a new whipping boy.  Vegas is going to "unlock" his true potential? ...................nah

Best GM in the league is laughable. We had 1 good year, he needs to repeat that and we need to win something, division, conference, etc to even remotely be in the running for me.

He's definitely the best at hiding when the team is doing bad though. This is the sh!t or get off the pot year for me with him.

Fitz surrounds himself with A LOT of people, and for better or worse, he listens to their advice most of the time.  I would be worried if they relieved Fitz and Fletcher was appointed GM...

If that ever happened, I’d be too busy burning the Rock to the ground to be worried.

You should be burning Hard Rock for the ridiculous contract they handed to a marginal QB. 😁

Wish there was a “Days Until Dawson Signs”, so I’d know what day we’ll all have something to talk about again.

I lost A LOT of respect for Fitz when he disappeared when sh!t hit the fan, and to absolute bury Holtz when he was still on the roster....  but is more than happy to show up immediately when there's something good to talk about.

Yeah Fitz going into hiding is gonna stick with a lot of Devils fans for quite a while.  Step 1 towards fans moving past that is for the team to make the playoffs and make a little noise upon getting there.  I like the moves that he’s made this offseason, but obviously good results have to follow.  No 2023-24 Part Deuxs allowed.

Devils ticket front office doing Devils front office sh!t as usual. Tickets are on sale today yet season ticket holders can't list any games for sale even thought there's numerous resale listings already and we can't see our price per game yet as well.

I have 3 games I know I can't make because of conflicts and would like to list them for sale, sh!t is annoying.

I would bet a lot that your blood pressure would lower if you just dropped your tickets lol

They seem to cause you a lot of aggravation.

Are season tickets actually worth it? I only ever hear complaints and there doesn't seem to be too much benefit to pre-buying games. I go to maybe 5-10 games a year. When I feel like going, I just buy tickets to go. Are you saving that much money?

Exactly what I do. I wouldn’t have season tickets if they paid me.

I'm actually really calm, I know it doesn't sound like it from my posts but I really don't get riled up in off the board life about it, just easier to rant away about it here lol

I rarely miss more than 8-10 games and those are because conflicts happen.

It's super nice sitting next to the same people and that's a huge benefit for me that some people don't care about but I love. It's the community aspect that is something that I don't get when I just sit wherever. I've made friends who I've known for well over a decade now, gone to some of their weddings, seen their kids grow up, that sorta thing.

It's definitely not about saving money but I would only sit in my seats/area at this point or simply wouldn't go. I'll probably always have them unless they price me out at ridiculous prices which I unfortunately can see happening eventually. I sit in the front row of the 100s as well and I'm absolutely spoiled rotten in terms of not having anyone sitting in front of me. This is also my biggest "splurge" of the year I spend on even though I do travel a lot doing other things.

If the team is good though I'm definitely able to sell games for face value if I have a conflict or simply don't feel like going and I use the buybacks to my advantage by giving up the higher tired price games vs a lower priced ones. You also save on the playoffs if we make them, especially compared to what they charge for face value on ticketmaster if you get a match up like the Rangers.

I know the Rangers games are a source of controversy for some people but with the variable pricing they legit cost me half the cost of 1 full season for 1 of my seats because the pricing is that ridiculous. I can't justify those costs for 2 games out 41 home games, it's the regular season and they really don't matter that much vs the cost. I've never sold a home game for the playoffs vs them and those games have probably taken years off my life, especially the last 2 series vs them in 12 and 23 lol

Were you there for Game 6 in 2012? That might be worth buying season tickets for the rest of your life alone lol

Yup never hugged so many strangers that night, place was off the wall insane. Game 7 was still crazy but it was nothing like that but the stakes were a lot higher. The first sweep we had of them in 06 was a ton of fun and I actually went to game 4 at msg for that one but that one sorta balanced out with the horrible 2008 series for them that we looked awful in 5 against them.

My biggest issue in general is I think everything's too expensive. Hell look at Sam Rosen talking about growing up as a kid and how little he spent to go watch games, I know it's like 70 years later but the prices are still way out of hand. It's just a shame they have made something that everyone should have access to cost so much. I don't know how large families afford it. It's a shame we aren't more like the rest of the world who don't let insane price hikes fly. The Premier League in England is a good example of how the prices for tickets aren't insane even though it's the best league in the world for soccer.

I also acknowledge that I'm part of the problem for supporting these ridiculous prices but life is too short sometimes to cut your nose off to spite your face since it would need to be a fan wide protest to bring prices town and we all know there's 0 chance of that happening.
