2024 League wide FA Deadline thread

Plus Askarov is CHEAP and won’t require an extension for a while. It assures you keep the cost of your goaltending low for years. Fitz HAS to be trying on this.

Never trust the mocks, kid. Never trust the mocks.

He is really shocked. Good for Verbeek and company as far as getting their guy.

I'm on the Askarov Schmid '26 train!

Dillon is a cheaper alternative to Zadorov. That would be just fine.

If all goes according to plan, the Devs should have 3 solid D pairings (even though JS still scares me a little)…..

AND NO BRENDAN SMITH. 😄

Anyone think with 19M in space we could be looking at stamkos?

I think Stamkos is going back to Tampa. They traded Sergachev and Jeannot for a reason.

I thought Tampa already announced publicly that they weren’t re signing him

Also heard that Dillon was a target being a cheaper option

We’re rumored to be in on Brendan Dillon, who brings a similar game for cheaper. But yeah I’m all about Zadorov. Sounds like he’s gonna get a ridiculous contract though.

Nope; Stamkos said he was testing the market. Tampa never said they weren’t resigning him.

Stamkos could probably score 40 goals in his sleep playing on Jack’s wing. Doesn’t seem like the right fit though at his age.

I just can’t see them letting Stamkos walk. He’s a franchise legend, their captain. His number is going to the rafters, and he’s going to the HOF. He should retire a Bolt.

See John Tavares if we’re talking about “franchise” players

Kind of like a certain goalie that has his name hanging in our arena....

How many Cups did Tavares win with the Islanders?

That was all Marty. I don’t see how it’s similar.

Not sure why winning cups with the team would make or break them making a deal they aren’t comfortable with? Thanks for the prior success but it’s a business if they don’t see it being a right mold moving forward.

how could it not be similar? You’re talking about franchise HOF players that have won Stanley cups with their original team moving on to a different team? Sounds completely the same lol. Maybe stamkos isn’t thrilled there anymore either who knows

Devils could have found a way to convince Marty to stay. He left because the team didn't want him. I understand that Tampa wants Stammer to stay but the gap is rumored at like 1 to 2 mil a year. You find a way to make that work.
