Marino to Utah

I like Marino but it was clear that Fitz was down on him, and getting two seconds is a fine return.

And FINALLY the Devils dare to use a draft pick on a Russian goalie!  Like both the trade AND the selection.

The Devils have filled the pipeline with goalies.

Hopefully one of them works out.

We all thought Schmid was going to be that guy, but it seems like everyone has shut the door on him too.

Very obvious that Fitz went into this draft and offseason with a plan.

Yes, many goalies in the system and Fitz certainly won’t complain if one or more of them step up and prove themselves to be worthy, but Yegorov is the “chosen one” until proven otherwise.  Fitz traded into the second round and tabbed him for a reason.  And also didn’t tie himself into any goalies long-term.

And even though tampering isn’t supposed to be a thing, wouldn’t surprise me much if Pesce and the Devils have had some kind of back-channel contact, and if Fitz already knows he’s pretty much coming here.

For now the Devils have their own 2nd, Winnipeg’s 2nd, and Edmonton’s 2nd in 2025.  Can you say “Trade Deadline Assets”?

I didn't see the goalie pick, but I don't like losing Marino. At all. We hardly have any stay at home D men, maybe Siegs, but he sucks.

A good goalie is important and we all want our young guy that we can develop..... But if you don't have anyone to protect in front of him, what's the point???

Looks like Pesce will replace Marino.

more picks!

The Devils gave up their fifth as part of the Marino deal…this trade effectively gives them one back.

I will miss Marino because I think he will bounce back this year. Good return for him so can't complain too much. Good player.

The return that Tampa got for Sergachev is wild. I didn't think they would move off that player.
