I will miss Marino because I think he will bounce back this year. Good return for him so can't complain too much. Good player.

The return that Tampa got for Sergachev is wild. I didn't think they would move off that player.

I liked him and wouldn’t have minded him sticking around one bit, but yeah, it’s a solid return, and the Devils might have just gotten their goalie of the future.  And it sure seems like Fitz had decided that he had to go.

Hope Pesce works out.  Apparently the metrics favor him as a player.

Drafted a goalie

The top ranked goalie actually

And a Russian to boot. Many of us have been screaming for years to throw some darts at taking some Russian goalies.

I saw someone compare signing Pesce to Palat. The next already declining player overpayment contract incoming? Time will tell.

Palat was a panic move when Fitz missed out on Gaudreau. Pesce has obviously been the plan all along this time around.

Considering that Marino was a guy that Fitz decided no longer had a place here, yeah, did a good job to not only trade into this year’s second round, but snag a nice goalie prospect to boot.

Considering that Marino was cost-controlled (at a reasonable cap hit) for another three years beyond this one, Fitz really must have really seen something in his play to make him decide “Nah, seen enough.”  Interesting that entering Year 4 of his current deal, that Marino’s already going to be suiting up for his third team since signing it.

Perhaps but I care less about the cap the more I see teams get out of their cap albatrosses at the cost of a draft pick at most, or even less than that the way the Rangers tend to.  I do get the vision for the D, if the interest in Pesce and Dillon are both valid

Reunite Siegs with a healthy Dougie short-term

Pair up Luke and Nemec with long-term stay-at-home vets (Pesce and Dillon), who'll add more size to our incredibly small, finesse blueline

Our first-round pick is more of a far-term replacement for Siegs.
