overtime98
One of my buddies has put this into his forum... Appearently, he has heard from CAA security last night at the K rock Claus fest show, that there will be a season and it will start Jan. 28th.... This could be just a rumor or it could be true.... My reaction was we will see. ATTENTION! There will be a NHL Season coming in January! I(HELLS) have some good news to report as I and one of my buddies spoke to several security and workers that work at the CAA(I was at a concert @ CAA last night) and they told us that the NHLPA has given in and we will hear the news on December 9th meeting. insanity_gallops
Nothin' personal, but until I see it from a reliable and trustworthy source (a.k.a. TSN) it's just a big rumor.
oofrostonoo
That would be amazing if it were true!!! I am hopeing it is...I had a feeling that it was a 50/50 chance...but i am an optomist....sooo CUP 2005!!
NJDevs4978
Had to change the title ever so slightly cause anyone that looked at the headline might think a miracle occured I'm not sure how much the players have given in given that there's no cap in the proposal and the owners have been hell-bent on one. But who knows, the Brylin resigning rumor turned out to be true Edited December 4, 2004 by Hasan4978
NJayDevil
Well, of course, the security guards are the first informed. Not TSN or ESPN, but the security guards.... EDIT: With that being said, I have an optimistic feeling there is going to be a season now as a result of this invitation meeting. I just don't believe CAA employees would get a notice this soon, way before the general public would find out. It's not like they need to know that bad.. devils102
If it were true why would they even have a meeting, why not just announce the deal right now? I find highly unlikely that players just caved in all of a sudden. I hope this is true but I doubt it. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Christopher_watts31_ls
First off im optomistic about this too I hope this turns out to be true but time will tell but if you get the news wouldnt you tell your employees and the meeting sounds like the best time to announce it because then you know what the new CBA will look like. Devils731
If a deal is going to be made in on or around the 9th this month why would the league wait a month and a half to start the season? I would think one week to let everyone know when camp opens, 2 weeks of camp, and start the season. -Scott

IAmCanadian27
Hm, I doubt it. I know I can get another source on this matter though. My dad plays hockey with a Devils employee and he said he'll ask him about this when he sees him on Tuesday.
Derek21
Eh, until I see an agreement in place, I am not going to believe it. I'd love for it to be true.

thefiestygoat
As much as I want to, my gut is telling me that this is just a rumor and that there will be no season. Which is weird because I tend to be more of an optomist than pessimist.

Don
This rumor has been confirmed by my garbage collector, the local high school janitor and my cat. All were given this information in advance of the news media.

sammyk
You guys make it sound like the janitors and security guards were the first ones told. Not saying it's true, but IF it is, some notice has to be given to someone so that venue dates aren't given to some other event, and eventually things leak out to lower levels. Maybe someone was told to prepare the ice equipment or something. Who knows.

Don
If *ANYONE* received a notice to prepare for a season starting on the 28th that would SO be front page news on TSN. There are a LOT of people being paid to keep their ear to the ground. I would have VERY, VERY, VERY serious doubts that this news would trickle down to the security guards before it trickled onto TSN. But, instead, on TSN we have word that the NHLPA's latest offering is yet another luxury tax, just one with more teeth to it. If this turns out to be true, I would have to say that all of TSN are completely inept that this kind of tangable news would come out on a message board and hours later there is still nothing on their website. There are a LOT of people being paid to keep their ear to the ground. Exactly. If a security guard in Toronto was given a notice saying there will be hockey, wouldn't you think he would run to the media with it? If these notices were true, some big sports channel would have it by now.
Rock
It's just Lou starting a house league for all the extra players under Devils employ. The rivalries are intense, thus the need to alert security ahead of time.
Weekes Head
Oh no! I guess we better shoot sammy for thinking of any possibility, even if remote! And btw...before I get my head taken off for this, it was JUST A JOKE.
