insanity_gallops
Malakhov resigned... how unsurprising. Very glad to see Rafalski will remain in NJ. And for some reason today, I was looking at the UFA list and thought, "Dan McGillis, eh? Hmm..." Go figure. Well, at least we can suit an all-NHLers lineup on D now. MantaRay
HOLY CRAP: McGillis, Rafi AND Malakhov!!!!!!! I LOVE YOU LOU!!!! The Flyers just became the second best team in the East. CONFIRMED!!!
Darwindog
Score.ca...via the Flyers message board. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> if all 3 of those players are signed, stevens may very well not be coming back. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's sort of what I was thinking... i'm holding my breath even though I kind of think I shouldn't be... 1986Devil
geez, I didn't know that Devils fans were so negative about things. Yes Niedermayer is gone and I am upset about this but what are we supposed to do, just give up?! Come on now. Let's see what happens and support the squad. insanity_gallops
Also, this shows that Lou did have a backup plan. Might not be one that everyone was hoping for, but he still had a plan.
BlueSkirt
ya think all 3 add up to 7.8 Mil ?

oofrostonoo
Neidermayer is a blow to us but i think that we will be fine...McGillis adds size which we need, as does Malakhov. Rafalski is just great... I am confident even tho no neidermayer in nj.
MantaRay
You will see Luzzo. This was the best case scenario if Nieds left, qualtiy depth and doesn't force the kids to have to play now.

br_hockey
at least with the addition of mcgillis we don't have a tinyass team anymore...we can start to match up to the flyers sizewise
Rock
Ok Lou shored up the Defense with a couple of offensive DMen. Is there still enough cap room to get a cheap scoring foward and bring Stevens back?
Exit56
I think Whitey and Brown get moved. McGillis is a lot more annoying to play against and from what I remember, a lot less dumb-penalty prone. I know that McGillis and Brashear are two dudes on my "I'd like to hit with my car" list when they weren't playing for the Devils. I bet Stevens comes back. insanity_gallops
Honestly can't see a place for Brown with the Devils now... unless he's to be kept around as insurance. And where does Hale fit into everything? Rafalski Matvichuk Martin White Hale Malakhov McGillis Brown Stevens(?)
Jerrydevil
Is anybody concerned that Malakhov, well, stinks? Plus, I could have sworn he was talking about imminent retirement when with the Rangers last year. But it's good to get Rafalski back. McGillis ain't bad. LizDevil30
Well we don't know the salaries, but w/ Nieds we figured Lou could still get Ralfi and Stevens. So how much cap room do you think there is?
insanity_gallops
Malakhov actually played really well for the Flyers last year during his stint with them. He gave the Devils fits. So in one fell swoop Lou signs two former Flyers.

(thank god) and that brown will go ( ) so the devs should have a pretty reliable defense for this year, esp. if stevens resigns

El Diablo
Do ya think Raffi was on hold by Lou until Scott called or was there a prior commitment (wink) Dog I understand your smilie is blue but whats with the people walking in front?
insanity_gallops
br, you're ready to give up on Hale after one season? He was a rookie playing in the NHL with no professional experience, and he played respectably. To be sure he was weak at the start, but towards the end of the season (before his injury) he was playing solid hockey; I remember a game against the Rangers last year where he was everywhere and hitting anything in blue. This is a player the Devils initially projected as a top-pairing d-man. I'd like to see him get regular ice time and develop further -- but I'm thinking Lou will keep him in Albany to see if he can play an entire year without injury or illness shortening his season. No need to risk it if McGillis can fill his spot.
HellOnICE
Malakhov is a good skater. Definitely not a bad one.
Elias 2662
Raffy is my new second favorite player. THERE is someone who shows true loyalty. Lou brought him back from Europe and Raffy repays him by waiting for Scotty-poo to make his decision. I doubt it's easy to know that you're second priority over someone else but anyways bravo Raffy! Of course my feeling will probably change if it turns out that Raffy will be making 5 mil/yr.
