peteyvegas
Help! I'm going up to Buffalo in June and I need some help. Does anyone know the Name of a Hotel right on the Falls?? Taking my mom up for her birthday. She's never been there and neither have I.
threestars
There are tonnes, but depends how much you want to pay. I was there just last week. Expedia, hotels.com, orbitz and travelocity all have good deals. Also, tripadvisor is a good way to figure out which ones are worth the cash. I stayed in "Rodeway Inn Fallsview" (the fallsview part is important, there are 3 other rodeways and the other 2 are way skanky). It doesn't actually overlook the Falls, but good value budget place (not elevator though!). maps.google.com is very helpful for figuring out where places actually are, i love their hybid. You'll be in luck for the Maid of the Mist too, just started this weekend, my parents missed out, d'oh! Oh, I notice you are going to Buffalo. If you want to get the best of the Falls, stay on the Canadian side, Niagara Falls NY is an utter dump. Plus the best view is on the Canadian side. peteyvegas
Thanks a lot. If you know, even the name of one of the hotels with a direct falls view, I also would appreciate it. Even just the name. Thanks for helping.
threestars
OK, the Oakes hotel (LINK TO HOTELS.com, location shown in the pic is correct, it is ACTUALLY there, unlike the pics someother places use) has good view and is slightly more budget that say the Radisson or Embassy Suites. You have to select the Fallsview rooms (floors 9-20), but they have an excellent location, looking straight at the Horseshoe falls. BUT, if money is not a problem, then Marriott Niagara Falls Fallsview Hotel & Spa, Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort and the other two mentioned above are classy with good views. (I recommend checking out tripadvisor, eg their reviewer recommendations (LINK), they are really helpful) Edited April 19, 2006 by ThreeStars

DevilsMJ
BUT, if money is not a problem, then Marriott Niagara Falls Fallsview Hotel & Spa, I just stayed there a month or so ago and it was extremely nice and each room had a beautiful view of the falls and some had a little couch area right next to the window that had two couches facing each other. It was very nice and they put the gold medal game on downstairs on their big screen for me and gave me free Starbucks money to get a coffee at their little starbucks stand in the lobby. They also have a connection bridge that goes right to the casino.
Masked Fan
I went 2 years ago and stayed at the Sheraton On The Falls (Definitely stay on the Canadian side!). Got an end room. It was an AWESOME view. The walls were windows top to bottom and it had doors that opened (Bars keep you from falling) and let the kickass sound into your room. Had a SMALL balcony on it facing the falls too. It's across the river from the American Falls and looks nicely at the Horseshoe Falls. Sheraton On The Falls there is another one closer to the Horseshoe. Sheraton FallsView My Sister and brother in law are going. Found a deal with that Marriott the others mentioned for like $249 for 3days/2nights. Good deal. Marriott spa place Maid of the Mist is a must. And the Wind tunnel thing. Goat island was cool too. Nice view and you get to stand practically on the edge of the falls. Casinos, a zoo of sorts, and the first Hydro electric plant. Have fun, it IS BEAUTIFUL. threestars
One more question? Is is feasible for me to land in Buffalo and rent a car and drive to the Canadian side to a hotel? Hell yes. In fact I would probably recommend it.
Don
Canada side rocks. American side kinda sucks. I'd very much recommend the Maid of the Mist. I went on it for the first time last year... that was pretty awesome.... though I was holding onto the handrail with one hand and my glasses with the other. I don't have anything to add about hotels as I was staying with a friend. However, I can say that the falls and MAYBE the casino are the only things worth visiting there..... there is a wax museum and a WWF Superslam (AKA Drop-Zone) and a Playzone amusement park.... they all suck. Tourist-trap from hell.
threestars
There is also a butterfly place just by the whirlpool rapids (don't waste your money on the cable car, it looked really pathetic), and a botanic garden. The butterfly place was a tad expensive at $11 (US) each but it was cool, they are so big and get so close (it is a little off-putting if you aren't fond of things fly close to you, but cool all the same). Maid of the Mist is the best there is on offer, damn cool. Plus you can keep the sexy blue poncho if you like plastic that smells of Niagara River water! There is a website for the region too, does have some useful info, and at least a map.
LOTCB
Canada side rocks. American side kinda sucks. I can say that the falls and MAYBE the casino are the only things worth visiting there. two statements that could not be more true.... As for hotels, even though I have probably been to Niagara Falls more times then I can count (at least 30)...my Dad lived outside Buffalo for 25 years...so no need for lodging etc....cannot really help you in that regard. As for Buffalo, another ghost town to be honest...but if you are looking for something to do there (not far from Niagara Falls and just in case get bored of the falls) Buffalo Bisons (AAA Baseball) Bisons Nice little stadium...almost like a mini Canden Yards....if they are in town and you like baseball, its a good way to spend some time... Also if you ever wanted to eat the the "Mecca of Buffalo Chicken Wings" place, the Anchor Bar is the place where the concept was founded: Anchor Bar Just figured this might add some more ideas for you...any other questions do not hesitate to PM me. peteyvegas
Thanks, clown. Got mom for her 80th. The view is the thing. But I'll know where to go if I need to run away. I appreciate all you guys helping a professional "get lost" guy out. I'm taking a laptop with me so I can bring Streets and Trips along. I hope it translates French. RowdyFan42
Where you're going, I doubt you'll need French. And I've been meaning to ask this question: What's this doing in Purgatory?
threestars
What's this doing in Purgatory? Maybe peteyvegas figured Rats fans more likely to know...... since we live......slightly closer than NJ fans?
peteyvegas
Didn't know where to put it and didn't want to put it in Hell. I'm still not the computer guy like most of you around here. I dont know my ass from a hole in the wall when it comes to most things.

I dont know my ass from a hole in the wall when it comes to most things. Must make plugging in electrical appliances a real challenge. Might hurt some too. You'd think you'd figure that one out after just one screw up though......I think you might need professional help.
LOTCB
What's this doing in Purgatory? Because being a Buffalo sports fan like me feels like purgatory? Oh, wait, this is about traveling to buffalo!
