Rangers accused of inappropriate behavior by Isles Ice girls

I heard some interviews about this on WFAN yesterday morning. They included the guy who wrote the article for Newsday and the father of one of the icegirls (he happens to be a Ranger fan, despite what his daughter does for a part-time job). It wasn't a water bottle. They spit on the woman. The water bottle would have splattered and tended to go all over. When some deliberately spits on you, it's not the same and that's what happened to her.

Lundqvist doesn't seem to understand that this is their job. Yes, they may be dressed in tight outfits but in the end, they are the same as the maintenance workers in other arenas who come out to clear the creases. He says he doesn't want to move because he's collecting himself - no, he wants the snow to stay in the crease because if anything gets past him and the puck is on the ice, it slows it down. The women say he is the only goalie who has refused to move when they ask him, including Marty, who also is know to like to stay in the crease during the breaks. Lundqvist is the only one who gives them any trouble about moving.

I just don't get that he can't understand that it is their job and not some attempt to persecute him.

Here is a simple solution, don't let the girls clean the ice, keep them in the sections to help get the crowd to cheer or work during the intermissions on the ice. There really is no reason for a girl in a skimpy outfit to clean the crease out to begin with. Plus no fan says hey im going to go buy a 90 dollar ticket to see a ice girl. Guys can go to strip clubs to see a hell of a lot more for a hell of a lot less if they want to.

They could have been wearing maintenence outfits and I still think Lundqvist would have refused to move. I get the feeling he has a problem with the cleaning the crease rule in the first place and a problem that women were sent out to do it in the second place.

Anthony on Henrik: "What an ass!"

Opie on them spitting on the girl from the bench: "One of them apparently doesn't like girls"

They also said the Rangers are a bunch of douchebags.

Some dopey Ranger fan called in to defend the Rangers and they said how can you defend something like this? It goes beyond being a fan. Opie said it's a rule that goalies have to get out of the crease to let them clean the ice up.

Anthony then went into his classic Mad Dog impression. "You gotta let dah goil in da cahvease"

o&a rule, too bad i'm up too late to listen to them and i don't have xm. at least i get to listen to ron and fez in the eve's. anyway, this just seems so gay and i'm glad o&a ripped them. come on, they're hot, leave them be. maybe if he does do it at every rink, i could understand it, but do other goal tenders do the same? what a douche. and spitting, come on, grow up. be professional, save that behavior for home. or the bar. ;)

I think the girl should have used the squeegee to knock Lundqvist's legs out from under him, then straddled him while he was down smacking him and pulling his hair out. I think it would have caught him so off guard she probably could have kicked his butt and humiliated him for the rest of his career. Now THAT would be funny! :giggle:

How lame that the fishermen have to resort to jailbait cleaning up the ice around the goalie to try and take his focus off the game - but how much lamer to react like that - you're a pro, act like one...
