Newark's equivalent to the Red Mile?

Recommended Posts

Even the article you're talking about mentions three new sports bars in the arena area (which is incredible given the liquor license laws in the state, someone must've turned a blind eye somewhere because I'm pretty sure that Newark was already maxed out). Is there crime in Newark? Yes. More than at the Meadowlands? Yes. Is it that much worse than similar arena areas in other downtowns across the country? Downtowns that, mind you, get sellout crowds at their arenas far more often than the Meadowlands ever did. No. If you want a sterile atmosphere you'll be disappointed, but there's a reason there are more businesses in downtown Newark than there are at the Meadowlands.

People have to remember that Newark is in the middle of a change. There is no way people would go to a Devils game in Newark 20 or even 10 years ago. The city is becoming safer and cleaner, and with the money this arena will be bringing in you can expect the city to become better over time.

As far as tradition goes I think that whenever people ride the train to Newark to see Devils games they should all ride in the front car or the back car, just a thought.
