I have a question, why do the top salaries go to forwards and not to goaltenders? I believe on any team they are the most important players. New Jersey would be nothing without Brodeur, the Rangers nothing without Lundqvist, and Vancouver nothing without Luongo. I think those players should get more money than any other player on the team and I wonder why managers aren

i think its cause people dont consider goalies as actual players cause they "stand in the net" as im told by people but they are the backbone of a team with out brodeur, luongo and lundquvist teams wouldnt get as far as they do. goalies deserve alot more credit then they get, if they see 30 shots a game or 5 they are the last line of defense. my opinion they deserve more money

Gerber is gettin $3.5 mill to sit on the bench most of the season.

Luongo gets $6.5 mill a season

Marty took home team discount but still gets $5mill +

The khabibulin gets $6.75mill a season.

Guigure gets $5.5 million

Thoes are close to top end salleries.

I dont think Brodeur gets paid much.. someone posted the Devils player salaries in another topic i think i remember Brodeur had around 5.3 mil/year or something around that.. hes worth alot more than that, and no way you can pay someone like Gomez alot more than that (which the Rags did).. im quite suprised Marty wouldn't want to sign with another team for more $$$.. just goes to show you he's a true Devil, probably the most deserving of his jersey retirement when he retires

I think part of it is that goalies are more willing to give up some money to stay in their comfort zone. Marty would probably go insane if he played on a team like Columbus. Great skaters will still put up points on garbage teams, and if they don't put up as much they can shrug and cash their paycheck. Goalies would be miserable facing 40 shots a night and seeing their reputation go in the gutter.

It was a union"outrage" when he signed the 5.2mm deal. Brodeur was ruining the market because he was leaving a good 2mm on the table. Brodeur wanted the team to stay competitive and not be hampered by his salar, and quite frankly, 5mm is a lot of money to him. He did what everyone always says when we lose a free agent, put the team first, not worry about the masses of money - he'll still be a multi-millionaiire.
