NJDevs26
The fun part is they have another game coming up, this was the first game of a doubleheader. Odd that the Orioles actually led 3-0 in the fourth inning and it was still 5-3 in the sixth. Man this score wouldn't even be believable in football, unless the Ravens' offense turned it over five or six times.
Don
So I see by TSN that that sets the American League record for runs in a game. Know what sucks? They kept their pitchers in there. I loved games that were like 14-1 and the Expos would throw in Chris Spier, the shortstop, or Vance Law the third baseman to pitch the 9th inning. Don
They had to. They had another game as soon as that one was finished so they had to hold back at least 3 relievers for the next game and just let some of their crappier pitchers stink up the joint. If this wasn't the first of a doubleheader, the score would be 15-3 or something. Talk about a tough decision for a manager but they just had to throw away this game and try and win the next. devilsrule33
But that is exactly why the Expos would throw Chris Spier into a game. Why waste a pitchers arm if there is an off chance he will be needed the next day (or in this case, in a few hours)? Yes, I realize it's not the 80s anymore and teams are not risking shortstops making $250,000/year. But it was fun to watch.... it even made it bearable when my team was down 14-1. TrentonDevils
If you pitch more than three innings, it's considered a save regardless of score, according to...whatever sports show I was watching when I saw the highlights. I think that's ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT.That would have been one hell of a blown save. BTW, the Baltimore Ravens have not allowed 30 points in a home game since November 2003. This is going to be the runs record in a game for a long time.
