zachattack9
Are there weather limitations? Do they play when its raining or snowing? "The main concern, as with anything held during winter in Buffalo, is the weather. Collins said an ideal day would feature sunny skies and 20-degree temperatures. Precipitation would be bad, but the league has contingency plans
devils26
As soon as some of the minor details are figured out, I might just have to get tickets for this. The only problem is that it would be a 6 hour drive, and I can't even be assured that the game won't be rained out.
Devils Pride 26
Vey stupid. Biggest college football day of the year and have this now? The smarter thing would be the 30th or 2nd.

Devils Pride 26
I understand the points some of you are making, but is this going to be on national T.V? The ratings would be terrible. This is a chance for the NHL to showcase itself. I just really hope they dont mess up.
zachattack9
Interesting to note this from the article "NBC, one of the league
jkrdevil
Actually, its probably one of the few days they know people will be at home.Kinda like the Christmas Day NBA games and Thanksgiving Day NFL. Though, hopefully, the camera work wont suffer in an outdoor setting.
Triumph
Exactly everyone is home new years day watching tv with a hangover. I'm sure they did research as found that ratings would probably be higher on New Years against college football than on any other random weekend. David Puddy
Well, the thing is Buffalo-Pittsburgh will draw a big live crowd. I am going to try to make the trip...
Satans Hockey
My doing this trip depends on what tickets I can get. I will not drive 7hrs or so to go sit in the upper level, you won't be able to see sh!t from up there.

Satans Hockey
what a joke. I sign on at 10am and theres no tickets available in a 70,000+ stadium... righttttttttt I may go threw stubhub if I see a good deal but I am so pissed off right now I don't think I'm going to even bother going anymore. jkrdevil
As for temperatures it shouldn't be a problem. Remember the league played an outdoor exhibition game in Las Vegas in 1991 with the temperatures in 80's.
Satans Hockey
You truly underestimate the popularity of the Sabres, the Penguins, and the proximity to Canada...actually, Im surprised these tickets even lasted as long as they did. I'm not surprised it sold out, ticketmaster is what I am calling a joke. There were no tickets available at 10am when they went on sale. I had multiple computers on and I know at least 10 other people who were trying as well and none of them got tickets. I even was just looking for one ticket and I got nothing. squishyx
=[ I really wanted to get tickets to this too. There going for 200+ on stubhub now for the bleacher seats, it just sucks because people probably only bought tickets just to price gouge them. It may be a "legit" thing to do, but it still just sucks.
