Surgery for Langenbrunner, Janssen

Right wing Jamie Langenbrunner will have surgery Thursday to repair a nagging groin injury. Langenbrunner was examined by a specialist on Wednesday in Montreal. Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello said the injury is not an abdominal tear or a sports hernia, but the extent of the injury and the length of Langenbrunner's recovery won't be known until after doctors complete the operation.

Right wing Cam Janssen will also require surgery to repair his right shoulder, which he dislocated for the second time in less than a year in Monday's preseason loss to Philadelphia. Lamoriello said Janssen will have to wait to have the operation, however, because "the shoulder has to settle down."

White update

Devils GM Lou Lamoriello said the team would have to wait 24 hours to know the extent of the injury defenseman Colin White sustained when he was struck above the right eye with the puck during practice earlier today. Lamoriello said White has a laceration above the right eye, but the eye is swollen shut. They will have to wait until the swelling subsides to determine if there were any facial fractures and damage to the eye.

Season didn't even start and we already have a few injuries.. Janssen i could care less to be honest, we have alot of other people who can "take the body" while hes out.. Langs will be missed certainly and that messes up the Zajac/Parise/Langs line, who probably were the best line finishing last year.. White is another big loss, but if its only a swollen eye from a puck it should be all healed up by this start of the regular season..

Hey now, this isn't football where one, or in our case, three injuries can ruin an entire season (ahem, every New York Giants team I grew up watching).

We'll get to see some younger guys step up and hopefully play well in their places for awhile
