Sooooo The Brian Kendrick got released today.

This is shocking???

I'm more amazed at the fact that AJ Styles bumped like a pinball to put Matt Morgan over like he did on Impact tonight!!!

Still watching it now, but it's actually been a GOOD show

No shock whatsoever over Kendrick. It seemed to be on the horizon after getting jobbed out to 70 year old King the past few weeks.

But more interesting is this lol:

On July 30th, the day he was released from his contract with WWE, it was reported that Kendrick was released from his contract after commenting on the status of Paul Levesque (Triple H) following Levesque's 40th birthday. WWE released a statement saying, "Brian did not respect Paul's status in WWE so therefore he was released from his contract. We wish Brian the best in all of his future endeavors."

I like how theyre doing morrison vs. hardy for the belt on smackdown..it really is the best wrestling show right now. Also face Henry is alot better than heel henry and i think he deserves the title or at least a shot at it. Do you guys know when Undertaker and HBk are coming back? its been a long time since theyve been on.

I don't... you KNOW Morrison is NOT gonna win... I can only hope Punk comes in and messes with the finish and we get a 3-way at SummerSlam.... I think it kinda sh!ts on Morrison to "waste" his title match on free TV (kinda like having Hernandez beat Joe CLEAN and without Border Tossing him like he did last night...)

Undertaker... no rush :P

HBK is probably going to come back Monday to see up DX vs Legacy

apparently that is a bunch of BS, someone put that on Wikipedia. I read it on another forum.

I was gonna ask for a source on that... I'd have to challenge Kendrick's stupidity to the MAX on that one otherwise

Another Russo finish on Impact. Kurt has the ankle lock on Foley, Foley about to tap, lights go out and Sting appears, lights go out again and Lashley cleans house, spears Nash, Foley pins Nash to win the Legends title. Only Nash wasn't the legal man in the ring, Angle was. lol. Good show, stupid finish.

Well, almost. But you had the basic idea.

And God damn it...Mark Henry is finally getting over, he almost gets a title match last week and is looking like a serious threat to the title...and then he's paired with Hornswoggle. WTF?

...the Star'Confidential has a scoop on Big Foot walking out of a 7/11 last Tuesday, with a Big Gulp in hand. Though the story has not been confirmed nor authenticated, if true, the report proves a distinct preference over Wawa, Quick'Check, and Krauser's, from this inparticular species.

You want to talk REAL numbers now? The last 0.9 TNA drew from an iMPACT! was last year. They started 2009 with a 1.0 which = 1.1's in 3 months time. 1.1 lead to 1.2's.... to now 1.3's... (back-to-back weeks) on the verge of a company high 1.4. What direction is iMPACT! going? Meanwhile Smackdown ("the best wrestling on television") started off 2009 very high. (2.3) Which by February, became a 2.2 -&- 2.1 show. March got kicked off with a 2.0 rating... which by April was 1.9. May averaged 1.8... June averaged 1.7... and the first show in July notched a year low... 1.6! And all this is WITH Jeff (cue Scott's "wet/horney/moist-14'year old" joke) Hardy! Which direction is Smackdown headed? Maybe that's why the Titan brass is pulling out all the stops. From the "Monday Night Guest-Hosts" (aka: RAW is SNL) --to-- rushing HBK's return... this is toe to toe action. As of now TNA is no threat. You want to compete w/ECW Tuesday's?? No problem!! But if (big if) iMPACT! ever outdrew Smackdown?!? Ouch! That's enough to make Vinny'Mac cry. Then the gloves are off for good. Would one have thought that last year... when some iMPACT!'s drew an 0.8 --to-- Smackdown's 2.6 ? Yet now one year later, though there is a difference between 1.7 > 1.3... does it seem that mighty anymore?

Read the writing on the wall. By years end 2010 Smackdown... goes down... to impact. You see a failing company with no future. I see a 7 year old company... with growing interest, revenue, roster, and now... ratings.

PPV Buys is where the real money is at though, plus do any of those ratings include someone like me, who has their cable box off and dvrs the majority of shows? The Neilson ratings are outdated and don't mean much to me. I watch Raw almost every week with 10 friends over at my place.

Get back to me when TNA is selling out buildings for every one of their tv tapings and ppvs. Check that, get back to me when TNA is actually selling tickets for their tv tapings and not giving away tickets for their ppvs. TNA will never be bigger than WWE, it's just a matter of fact. The talent is somewhat there but everything else is not. 7 years is a long time and they still can't draw worth a sh!t. Keep on dreaming though.

No, it's not. The two really have nothing at all to do with each other than music being played during the entrances. UFC has simply replaced boxing.

The Neilson televsion ratings are far from outdated. The Premiere Wars, Sweeps Week, and Record Telecasts (ie: Monday Night Football, Tonight Talk Shows, etc) are still very much alive through network television. In other words.. TV ratings still dictate... everything. As for the Cable box being off... taping or recording a television program on a VCR, DVR, DVD recorder, or any other device, does not impact ratings what-so-ever. Google it if want averment. If you're taping something, or DVR'ing a program, you're receiving the feed from the station.

Ratings are measured by a company called Nielsen Media Research. A small number of households in the larger television markets receive electronic boxes that are hooked up to televisions. The device records what the household views on television. In smaller cities, "Paper Diaries" are used to keep track of what programs are watched, and when. Time shifting, or watching a recorded program later, does not count and is not measured. However, cable companies and DVR programmers like TiVo now keep track what is being recorded and watched. This information is sold to networks and production companies, and factors in conjunction with their corresponding ratings. SSOOOOOOO..... The sinking TV ratings from Smackdown, are due to lack of interest. Not 10 people over your house watching DVR'd RAW, with the cable box off. (somehow)

"Jarrett is introduced to the 30,000 plus in attendance" -They set company attendance records with their Global iMPACT! tour they did less than a year ago. And yes... they do sell tickets to their PPV's, house-shows, and iMPACTS! They have a Convention Agreement with Universal Studio's, which permits Universal to mark complementary extra's to their consumers who are visiting Universal. (meaning; the free tickets are given as interrelated promotions between Universal & TNA) Thus, if an iMPACT! sells out... no free tickets. This stradegy is used to grow the fanbase, no different than what the WWE (WWWF) did in the 70's... or what WCW did in the 90's.

Despite your view of TNA being "around for a long time" 7 years is nothing. Especially considering they've only been on Spike for 4 years.

See you lose right there... how does this account for 8 people crammed in a living room watching a sports event?? The ratings system can not and will not account for that

and what about if you're DVRing two shows at once too??

It's a piss poor way to determine anything... remember that one Feburary Devils game they say 58 people watched??

Yeah I'm sure THAT was accurate too :P

PPV buyrates however... damned accurate

Being on Spike helps TNA alot, but they need more exposure and alot more than aging nostalgic "stars".

ECW did a great job of creating and signing guys like Taz, RVD, Sandman, Tommy Dreamer, New Jack, etc. and taking younger second tier talent: Shane Douglas, Raven, Super Crazy, etc. and building an exciting franchise. If ECW had more time it would have been huge because they were 100x's better than what WCW, WWE at that period.

ECW was an exciting innovative product that just wasn't treated well by SPIKE, especially when WWE used their clout to get ECW pulled from TNN/SPIKE.

TNA is getting the exposure, but I just don't think they are building the younger talent the way they could be.

Truth

the more guys of the level of Christian, who they bring in and ELEVATE giving them a chance to shine in the main event (Rhino could have been one too)... THIS is how this company will put itself on the map... AJ Styles and Chris Daniels have been there a little too long... and Joe is close to that too......

TNA added Elijah Burke recently too... now this is a guy if they give him a decent platform they can do some more gooder with !

Now we know Kennedy is coming too (I would get a kick out of him being called Misttterrrr TNA....... TNNNNNNAAAAAAAAAAA)

So my family asks me to try and get Hell in the Cell tickets today but all that is currently left are 100 levels but in 114 which is so off to the side that the stage is going to get in the way of people entering and stuff of way up in the 200's.

I figure the best course of action is to wait and see if newer tickets pop up towards the middle. What do people think the odds of that happening during the pre-sale are? I'll be on vacation Saturday so really have no shot at logging in then.

How does this account for 8 people crammed in a living room watching a sports event?? The ratings system can not and will not account for that.

...it doesn't, nor has it ever. The Nielsen Research Rating system, maintains their structure is based on "Households" followed by Cycled Demographics. (a scheme built to determine such totalities) The regularity is integrated from household (family) numbers, and processed correspondingly. When the percentage is added throughout the pattern, an estimation on "how many people" is added to their calculations.

To make it easier: http://www.wisegeek.com/nielsonperct%

What about if you're DVR'ing two shows at once too??

...and how is this nuonce of "DVR'ing" any different to that of the 'VCR age of the 80's & 90's? If you DVR 2 shows at once... both shows get credited. (no different than how it was 15 years ago) *Example - It's 1993. Family Matters is on @ 8pm, but so is the Stanley Cup Finals. You go downstairs.... turn the TV on... put a tape in the VCR... and tape the finals. -You then go upstairs.... turn the TV on... put a tape in the VCR... and watch Steve Urkel say; "Did I do that?"

~The result? Both (yes BOTH) Family Matters, and the NHL Finals get credited for their own TV Ratings.
