First of all, today is Marty's 36th birthday so I just wanted to give him a big

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

Here's wishing him a great one!!

Second, I think Marty might have gotten a new tattoo. I know from his book that he has some down the middle of his back and one on each hip, but I was watching this youtube video and noticed when he laughs and bends over when he is trying to say "and that is how the cup changes everything" the camera zooms in. On his upper right arm, just peeking out from under his shirt sleeve looks like there might be a tattoo. ANyone else think so?

Third, I found a pic of Marty and Genevieve I thought I would post so here ya go....

And last, I found this youtube video. It's old because they are talking about the playoffs but there is some funny stuff in there about Souray and their restaurant.

Anyway, this is what happens during the offseason for me when I have to get my Marty fix.

That picture also looks like he's mocking her hair -- her hair is pokey and he's got the tree branches poking up behind his head... just looks funny. And someone give that girl a nice set of 5 pound dumbells - get those shoulders/upper arms toned not-so-young-woman! (heehee - I'm a fine one to talk!)

So I realized that the site I got the "man boob" pic from was that crazy girlfriend forum thing that there was another thread about. So, I was snooping around and people were saying that one of the devs announcers their last game was talking about what various devil's players have to look forward to over the summer now that the season was over, and that site said that the announcer said that Marty and Gen were getting married in June in the Carribean. Did anyone else hear that? I think I might be depressed and i don't want to be depressed if it is not true...anyone?

Fact- Martin Brodeur once ate 12 x-large pizzas in one sitting, and still went back for more..

i have no idea but if not, he can always marry me...i've been in love with him since i was like 11 (i'm 25 now haha)

p.s. - did you see him accept the vezina and speak french?? ::drool::

Yeah, I've been in love with him since he got drafted basically and I am 31. I have this year's and last year's Vezina trophy stuff on DVR. I have a confession to make...when it is summer and I don't think I can wait for October any longer I watch those 2 recordings to get my Marty fix. My husband speaks a little French so he lets me know what he says, but yeah I love it when he speaks French.

Marty is Getting Married

I found this, which seems to be an article written in the Montreal Journal by Marty himself. I ran it through Babel Fish Translator (any French speakers here could probably do better), but it seems he is getting married to Gen in the Dominican Republic on June 27.

Well, even though you are breaking my heart, Marty, :evilcry: CONGRATULATIONS!!!

If it is true, brodeurgirl30, then you have my regards.

I'm wondering what he says in the section before that -- something about the Devils playoff comebacks in 1995 against Boston, 2000 against Philly, and 2003 against Ottawa. :noclue:

For years now, I have heard a lot of wild rumors, but I never knew exactly what the truth was. Can someone explain the story of what happened with Martin and Melanie Brodeur? I remember seeing her at some of the games with their three young kids during the 2000 Finals (or was it the 2001 Finals). She wore that cowboy hat. But then, a year or two later, the rumor was that he cheated on her with his sister-in-law. Was that her sister? Or her brother's wife? And then, they got divorced, I assume? Does Melanie still live around here (New Jersey)? With the kids? And what became of the other woman -- the sister-in-law? Did that relationship last? ... And who is the new woman?

Lots of questions, I know. But ... :noclue: And I figure someone around here might know what really happened.

Shortly after the birth of Anabelle in 2002, Melanie's brother and his wife Genevieve moved in with Marty and Melanie to help Melanie with the children. Later that summer Melanie accused Marty and Genevieve of having an affair which they both denied. Marty admitted to an affair on Christmas Eve of 2002 and moved out the first part of 2003. He is still with Genevieve and she is the one he is marrying next Thursday.

This is all accurate information as I read it directly from some court documents posted on the internet when Marty petitioned the court to have his monthly spousal support reduced. Evidently Marty felt pretty bad about everything that happened during the initial court hearings. He stated that Melanie had been a good wife and mother and that he had made a mistake that he had to live with. Melanie took him to the cleaners. She got the kids, house, and car, $6.8 million of the couples money in savings, stocks etc. $9 million in alimony, $11,000 a month for child support and $42,000 in spousal support for an indefinite length of time. That is what Marty took her to court over in July of 2007 the indefinite amount of time on the spousal support. Turns out that an indefinite amount of time is not a fair amount for a 7 year marriage. So Marty won the appeal.

I hate that he had an affair, especially for the kids sake, but at least it wasn't just some crazy fling that ended shortly. They are still together 5 years later and getting married. The way I see it is the man made a mistake which he is admittedly sorry for and people can't crucify him forever for it. Maybe the best way for him to redeem himself is to be a better faithful husband this go around. So, even though I have had thoughts of a road trip to the Dominican Republic to stop the wedding, :giggle: I really am pulling for them and hope they are happy.

On a different note, this video makes me adore him so much more. I have no idea what he is saying other than Devils and Patrik Elias, but man it is sexy when he speaks French!

Also, found this Brodeur story circa 24 years old. It's a great read and brings back great memories.

Here is the Babelfish translation of that section of the article linked above:

I remember that at the time of our conquests of the Stanley cup in the New Jersey, we had always had strewn courses d' obstacles. In 1995, one drew from l' back 2 to 0 against Boston. In 2000, it had been necessary to overcome a deficit from 3 to 1 against Philadelphia. Lastly, in 2003, one had had to gain the seventh match of the finale of l' Is in Ottawa before gaining the honors of the great final against Anaheim, at the end of seven bitterly disputed meetings.
