So you're telling me that the 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Pittsburgh in November never happened?

I mean yes, I'd like to forget it too, but...

If you see I already changed or edited the post to the one Monday game we had on that afternoon it was a holiday. :) You were so fast in quoting me it was already edited. :)

I think the Devils start off the season with a tough schedule IMO. Three division games right off to start then the Capitals, Stars, Flyers in a home and home series, Mapleleafs, Thrashers twice, Sabres, Lightning then back to the NYR. All those games to start are going to be tough all the way up to the Sunday game vs. the Oilers.

we had 6 monday games

3 home

3 away

That's correct.

10/8 - @Ottawa

11/5 - Pittsburgh (yeah that was the drubbing game at home :puke:)

11/12 - @Pittsburgh

12/10 - @ Washington

2/4 - Pittsburgh

2/18 - Carolina

It sure felt like last season there were not many games on a Monday. :noclue:

all i know is that there are 82 games and the ones on thursdays were the best for me

near the weekend and after a not so hard day at school being able to watch hockey was great

NICE we play the thrashers on my birthday at home

hopefully we'll score a lot of goals and make the horn go off

Over/Under on attendance on Oilers/Devils Sunday Night November 9th?...The GIants play the Eagles on Sunday Night Football that night....

WHO makes these fvcking schedules?

The Oilers' timing in coming West is much more important than Sunday Night Football. I think you know that.

Over/Under is still 13.5k. hell, giants fans don't even go to sunday night games.

Interesting little quirk...our regular night games are all 7 PM...

Except

Maple Leafs @Devils 7:30 PM ET

...I wonder why?

I'm pretty sure it's because of the Canadian TV contract. I think the games on one of the network are always at 7:30.

How stupid is the lack of divisional games at the end of the year? If I was making a schedule I would try as hard as possible for the last games of the season to be only against divisional foes. I don't think it would be that hard to set up. It is so much more exciting for the both the teams doing well and the teams playing spoiler to do it against divisional rivals.

17 sets of games are back to back (34 games)

How many of those Does Marty Play??

To be successful in the playoffs the devils have to rest him this year. I would rather finish 6th with a rested marty heading into the playoffs (60-65 GP) than finishing 1st-4th with a tired marty (74 GP)..

Someone mentioned earlier that we are an old team.. how much of that takes a toll on the players?

This could be either genius scheduling or really stupid.

It isn't just the back-to-backs, its the 3 in 4 nights. If Brodeur is playing in all of those - certainly the ones early in the season, that makes no sense, and come March / April you guys will be singing the same old song. Honestly, aren't you guys tired of that?

Torre did this better than any other mgr/coach, etc. He would lose a game to win a war - Sutter needs to do the exact same thing early this season.

Every year there was a time when he was using Rivera too much, until he got to a point where he would not use Rivera to bail the Yanks out. Either he would make the bullpen get to the 9th, or just not use him for a game. If Sutter does that early - and if it means blowing a game or two in Oct/Nov, so-be-it, I really think the Devils will be better off in the long-run.

This basically means Weekes should start 2 of the 9 in Oct - how the team is playing be dammed.

Joe Torre also got blessed with the highest payroll in baseball for 12 straight years...

But I do agree with you, Let broduer play 60 games this year.. I would rather have him fresh in the playoffs then have him tired and sloppy.

I hear you on $$$, but its the point - which you get.

There is no magic number, Brodeur is elite he should play all the time, but I really think schedule should be a factor, and a 3 in 4 with travelling is the perfect time to use Weekes for a game.

Hopefully Me and my bud will be at that one for his B-day too.
