CRASHER
Jesus he makes it sound like the NHL puts a bag over their head and kidnaps them in the middle of the night and holds a gun to their head until they sign a contract.....he's either a serious drama queen... or they lace the kool aid with vodka and ecstasy over in mother Russia (or he drinks that piss beer that TZ gets loaded on!) Swede
not the players, the teams! people in soccer if you develop a good player at least you get paid for your effort when you sell the player, and can then afford to buy a new one for part of the money. the only way you lose the player is if you sell or if the contract expires and they walk for free... in hockey its free (almost) for the nhl to get a player regardless of that player's contract. brodeurrocks
We North Americans are such horrible people....holding a gun to poor Radulov's head to play a game for ONLY $948,000 next season!

Didn't the Russian league pass on a contract with the nhl that would of given them comp for their players? ...and if not for Pepsi, Coke would cost more. Devs4LIFE
"The NHL for 15 years has brought young players from Europe, first and foremost from Russia." Behind Canada and the US, there are more Swedish, Czech and Finnish players then there are Russian players.
Shtikl
Of course Radulov is a drama queen. She spent 2 years learning the role from Patrick Roy. Edited August 16, 2008 by Shtikl
devilsfan26
It's the same concept so I don't see a problem with the KHL going after these guys.
Devilish34
It's the same concept so I don't see a problem with the KHL going after these guys. I honestly don't care if they go after them but your example of competition keep prices low is the opposite of competition causing another market to increase their offers to acquire or keep players. My point was the NHL has made other leagues increase what they would of normally offered players.
