3CUPSN9
Belated Happy Birthday Ken!Saw that Gretzky Oilers over on the forum. Anyone got an idea how much that runs? Funny because my fiance asked at dinner last night what I imagined would be the most expensive jersey (she was being nice and indulging my rambling about Meigray). I thought a Gretzky Oilers would be a good example and then this one shows up. I've seen Messier Oilers listed dfor $25k. So how much for this thing? I've got the auction booklet from classic auctions from June 2008. On the first page they have the prices of how much some special jerseys went for. Gretzky rookie jersey $147,847. Bobby Orr Cup Finals jersey 1972- $137,059 Crosby 06-07 gamer - $21,113 Jean Beliveau 1967 gamer - $49,
slimegoat
You where there yesterday? Did I see you? I saw two guys with tatoos and they didn't seem to want to chat and were on a mission. What time were you there? I was the tattooed guy w/ hair. I knew they would be closing early, and had no idea what I was getting when we got there, so time for chatting was short. As I recall, we did speak about the Devils consignments. I'm sure we'll run into each other again. I'm there buying at least once a month.

That consignment stuff seems to be there for months and then just like... It disappears... Wonder where it goes.

3CUPSN9
I was looking at the Mystery Alaska grab bag on gameworn.net just before. A grand prize of a Connor Banks movie worn jersey valued at $2,000. Does anyone else find this to be absurd? Why would he think that a movie worn jersey is worth anything. If a movie worn jersey is worth two grand, than I'm wondering why a Parise jersey is only "worth" around $1,000-$1,200.

There is nothing appealing in that grab bag to me AT ALL. I wouldn't enter if it was $10.
3CUPSN9
The Parise finished at $1275... Holik finished at $388. Edited April 13, 2009 by 3CUPSN9
Rufener
Does anyone else find this to be absurd? Why would he think that a movie worn jersey is worth anything. It's about the target demographic, and you have to admit that feature films (even hockey ones) have an appeal far, far beyond just hockey fans. A Parise would be sought after by whom? Devils fans? Small population. A Mystery Alaska jersey would be sought after by by a globabl population outside of just one team or a hockey concentration. And if you really want to argue it... how many Parise games do you have on DVD? I can get every hockey movie every made within 5 minutes at my local Blockbuster. How many jerseys will Parise wear? Hundreds? There are only a couple of movie props ever made. That's pretty cool if you ask me. But, as we have all said here before, the value is in the eye of the jersey holder. Now for my shameless plug, I referenced my jerseys from "The Mighty Ducks" for trade earlier in this post and for those interested (in movie jerseys!) please swing by my website and check them out... I need to sell/trade a few.

Fair point - everybody has a different interest. I certainly wouldn't mind owning the Trenton jersey seen in the Wrestler. And I've always liked Larry's jerseys from Friday Night Lights. section227
I'm with Matt - I like my level and have no real interest in the big ticket items. Plus, for NJD fans, it is always about the team and not the individual. There were so many cool items at Meigray beyond the stars - like a Jay Leach Lowell with C, a beat and stained Lowell Bergfors, a nice red McKenzie. To me, its these "small" items that make the hobby so much fun. But I will be watching the Elias in pursuit of my A line dream.

During my Phantoms internship, I noticed the white numbers on the back of his red jersey had some strange marks/stains on them.

He'll take pictures and we can see. Let me know. I found out that the player I purchased (Dave Bolland) scored the first goal in Rockford Ice Hogs history. I wonder what set he scored it in (home or away)... gotta' research. That is kinda' neat, eh? Please be kind as I mentally rewind...I do not recall seeing the rear of the sweater. 3CUPSN9
So I might be getting a little ahead of myself here. If the Devils make it to the finals is anybody going to get a finals gamer? If so who? I guess a lot depends on pricing. Personally I would not mind getting a Paul Martin finals. That would be sweet!
