SatansDevils
Clemmer has to either eat that up, or NOT try to get up when the puck is sitting a foot in front of him and has Demitra charging. Also maybe if Salvador plays some defense and get on Demitra the goal would not have been scored. It is not all Clemmer on that 3rd goal. Salvador was out of position there and he has just been terrible since he has comeback from his ear infection. Phew. The Devils did what they had to do to get the win and they finally win in Vancouver since '99. Well deserved 2-points and win for the Devils. The Devils are now 2-1 on this 6-game road trip and will have 2-plus days off until Columbus on Friday where Shanahan is expected to join the team there. The line with Rolston, Madden and Clarkson was not bad at all tonight and Holik did have a good game and Pandolfo looked good too in this game despite all the fans that want him out. GO DEVILS! CRASHER
Clemmensen had a good game up until the point when he stopped having a good game. Seriously... if you could say this line in the Frank Calliendo/John Madden impression voice you'd make serious coin!
MadDog2020
it's probably already been said, but, marty can't come back soon enough for me. clemmenson makes me feel like this was the wrong week to stop sniffing glue. Screw the glue man- it might be time to move up to straight narcotics the way Clemmensen has been playing lately.

Like Marty has never let in weak goals.... Lets be thankful for what we have. This season could be looking A LOT worse. But yes, I do agree that Clemmer needs to stop overextending himself and stay in the net for the most part.

Clems still looks like he doesnt have a clue how to handle the puck behind the net. He looks like he's got a rubber stick.
Sickman
Clemmensen kind of got mixed up on the last 2 goals. He should have stayed in the butterfly on the 2nd goal but got caught trying to get to his feet. On the third goal he just needed to stand up but tried to drop down in the butterfly and got caught moving again. To be fair though he made some really nice stops. I'll take it. njdevil26
Good game by the Devils. The Canucks got their crap together and made a late push but the Devils were solid. Besides some pesky rebound control, I thought Clemmensen played well. Here's my article from the game http://www.hockeyprimetime.com/newsroom/De...-Canucks-3.html Edited January 14, 2009 by njdevil26
SatansDevils
Screw the glue man- it might be time to move up to straight narcotics the way Clemmensen has been playing lately. He made some good saves to keep the Devils up by the two and three goals for the most part of the game. He is fine and he got the win. Jeez, HE GOT THE WIN (16-9-1 not bad at all). The defensive breakdowns were bad in the end of the 3rd period and they turned the puck over way too much under the Vancouver pressure. It was not all Clemmer. Neutral Zone Trap
Christ almighty. I don't know about you guys but Clemmer nearly cost us the game tonight, those rebounds for the Canucks first two goals were brutal, and that third Canuck goal was embarrasing. Clemmer is tired, put Weekes in net for the Jackets game and take it from there. Fortunately our offence bailed Clemmer out. It's a diluted win but we'll take it. The Facepainter
It was a pretty solid game for the devils. Like Triumph said, Clemmer was good up until Van's 2nd and 3rd goal. Defensively the devils were probably the best I've seen them in a while. They were physical, they were well positioned and they blocked a lot of shots that could have ended up in the back of the net. There was one shot White deflected up that was labeled for the back of the net, he played very well, but all of the defensemen seemed to play very well. DevilNurn
*Exhale* Solid game for the Devils, solid first half for Clemmer. Glad to see the scoresheet full of different names, and to include Zach's. Important to swing off beating a tough team like Vancouver with a win Friday over the Jackets. Cowutopia
I hope that wasn't Pandolfo's last game as a Devil. He played very well. Greene, on the other hand, did not.

You could blame any defenseman twenty times a game if a goalie can't make a simple stop like the third goal. I only saw the last 5 minutes, but Clemmensen did make a few very good saves, but it goes to waste when you let in a goal like that. In all seriousness here. If this was a game Weekes played, and he let in that goal...you can not say you wouldn't be going crazy. It is becoming very clear to most fans here that Weekes should be seeing more time. He defintely deserves the next start after his solid play, and tonight's game by Clemmensen (from what I saw and what I have read).

sundstrom
weekes doesn't make all the saves clemmer does because he's not as quick. but he also doesn't play the puck and that's what led to the 3rd goal (which clemmer should have had anyway). firecenter
In regards to Clemmensen, i dont think we realize how important confidence is for our goaltenders, and how difficult it must be for sutter to navigate it. Everybody jumps on the Weekes bandwagon, even though he has yet to (maybe 1 win) beat a solid team. You start making clemmemsen FEEL like a bad goalie, he will be, and then were SCREWED. We dont have an A goalie, we have a C and D-, and we have to manage with that. Perhaps there's something the coaches see in personality or preperation that weekes lacks and clemmensen posseses. I do know that from watching both goalies, Clemmensen plays with more control in his style, whereas Weekes tends to be all over the map. I will say that a Nash-less columbus might be a good game for Weekes, then have Clemmensen play the Isles, with the whole rivalry emotion happening. sundstrom
oh - andy greene was also not good tonight. he has been scratch worthy since his return. martin had a very good game - i thought all our forwards were good tonight but i saw that pando got passed over a few times for parise tonight. may be signs of what's coming. NJDevs4978
oh - andy greene was also not good tonight. he has been scratch worthy since his return. Can someone explain to me what exactly the staff sees in this guy? To let him make a killer mistake or three every game with Jay Leach in the press box after playing well is just mind-boggling. It's not like he's some big prospect we have to play or a veteran who's earned a bit more rope. He's 27 and never showed any of his so-called potential here other than in too-short spurts.
