He's proven my doubts wrong thus far!!!
xxchaznjxx
that shanny goal tonight was a beauty. really a goal scorers goal. and i may be wrong, but has he been getting more ice time? or is that due to the PP?

I think the PP. Devils had a bunch of them tonight, after being shafted the last seven games or so.
reefgeek
dude vancouver is playing poor and devils are really hot. will see at the end of the season. Sundin will pick up his game no doubt.
Don
dude vancouver is playing poor and devils are really hot. will see at the end of the season. Sundin will pick up his game no doubt. Well, there certainly has been a discussion of causality. Pre-Shanahan Devils: 4-3 Post-Shanahan Devils: 5-0 Pre-Sundin Canucks: 7-5-3 Post-Sundin Canucks: 1-5-2 I think one could argue that Shanahan has been a positive addition to an already good team. Sundin on the other hand has thrown whatever chemistry the Canucks had into complete disorder.

He keeps this up, he'll be playing for us again next year, nevermind this season.
NJDevs4978
I don't really give a crap about Sundin right now. But as Sutter himself noted a few days ago (in a funny as hell dig), it's not as if Shanahan was going around the country promoting poker. He did keep himself in shape, the other guy didn't so Shanny was definitely going to be more ready to contribute.
SatansDevils
It was suprising to see Shanahan playing on the top line with Zubrus and Gionta for a while and in that 3rd period. Elias was on the 3rd line with Rolston and Madden for a while, then Sutter moved Elias back to the top line. Clarkson played mostly on the 4th line for the second straight game. Shanahan has plenty left in the tank and he is so fit and healthy right now that it looks like he has not missed a step or beat so far. I'll take 3-goals in 4-games and one assist. Keep it up Shanny. Shanahan > Sundin
NJTank99
The pick up of Shanny has been great, he does have something left and I think he will be key in the playoffs.
welcometotherock
My prediction of 9 goals, 9 assists in 35 games looks like it may be wrong

Yeah just his presence will be a key in the playoffs. He is a great player and proving it again.
halfsharkalligatorhalfman
He has been so much better than I thought he was going to be. I really hope he can keep it up for another 50+ games. To be fair, Shanahan doesn't have to do as much as Sundin in Vancouver in order to make the team win.
DevilNurn
Per Goal CountSundin: $2,812,750 Shanny: $266,666 That's the number that means the most to me about these signings.
J0llyR0ger
I think Shanahan has proved so many people wrong, including myself. I mean I expected him to play well but damn he is playing great. Also he is lucky he got on a great team right now, and Sundin didn't, you know theres 2 hot teams right now. The Devils and some team called The Visitors, they play in Vancouver
devilsrule33
Interesting to note that Sundin was not on the ice in the last 90 seconds on a 6-4 with their net empty and on a power play. Shanahan on the other hand was on the ice for the Devils Friday night with the net empty.
SueNJ97
He has been so much better than I thought he was going to be. I really hope he can keep it up for another 50+ games. To be fair, Shanahan doesn't have to do as much as Sundin in Vancouver in order to make the team win. I wasn't sure whether he had anything left and I definitely wasn't sure whether bringing someone on board why had been openly waiting for an offer from the team accross the river was a good idea. Also, since you don't play in NJ as just a PP specialist, the idea that some people in the media had that he wouldn't be taking a regular shift and would stay 'fresh' that way seemed ridiculous. However, so far, it has been fine. He does have to take a regular shift, but, as you point out, he didn't sign as a top six forward - only one of the significant PP pieces. Bro... between the money, the length of years on the contract, and his production thus far, I am thrilled. Depending on how well he continues to play, (and how deep we go into the playoffs) this could be the best acquisition since #89. GO SHANNY!
