NEW YORK - A record performance by Martin Brodeur has earned the New Jersey Devils goaltender the NHL's first star of the week.

Brodeur tied Patrick Roy as the NHL's all-time victories leader and helped the Devils continue their charge up the Eastern Conference standings, posting a 3-0-0 record with a 1.67 goals-against average and .943 save percentage.

Brodeur has won seven of eight starts since returning from a torn biceps tendon that required surgery, backstopping the Devils to within six points of the first-place Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference standings.

He has a chance to pass Roy in all-time victories Tuesday when the Devils face the Chicago Blackhawks
