MadDog2020
I've never been down there in the playoffs, but I have for several regular season games throughout the years. Trust me, the guy is needed. Maybe tell him to take a hike for the playoffs?Look, I don't necessarily like the guy. I think I've referred to him as a "dancing pile of AIDS" before. But joking aside, the guy doesn't deserve the kind of hate being directed his way. If anything, hate the people who hired him. And those people, BTW, must be getting positive feedback if they have him coming back for the playoffs. This franchise has shown an impressive tendency to actually listen to the fans ever since Vanderbeek took over. Just look at what happened with the cupholders upstairs and how requirements for access to the Goal Bar have changed. If they'll listen to what non-Goal Bar ticket holders and people who buy up the cheap seats have to say, you better believe they're listening to what people who buck up for tickets in the lower bowl have to say too. I hear ya. Trust me- I'm happy they have started listening to the fans more. That's part of what makes Vanderbeek a great owner. And I've sat in the lower bowl for the regular season and playoffs- I agree that during the regular season it's dead most nights. But game 2 was raucous. EVERYONE was into it, even the lower bowl. I don't deny that he gets people excited, but it just annoys me that people need a dancing idiot throwing sweaty t-shirts into the crowd to get excited. If some fans really need a moron like that to get them pumped, maybe they should go watch tennis instead. We've been made fun of for years for poor attendance in the first rounds and for having a quiet barn, but the Rock has been packed and and the crowds and been electric in Games 1 and 2. Makes me proud.

Triumph
Hes in different sections but he still sees 85% of the game. no way does he see 85% of the game, and even if he did, he's focused on his job, not the game.
mouse
I don't understand why people are going out of their way to hate on a guy for doing his job.I don't know about this specific incident, and don't really care to. But it's just another example of how any group has it's handful of jackasses. This time around, those jackasses were identified at people who sat in 208. Other times, it's those Crazies on the other side of the barn. Yet other times, it's my friends and some fat kid in eye makeup. I was in 208 for the incident. I would say the regulars (a small number) were more to blame than the Canes fan, but people are pumped for the playoffs. Dumb sh!t is gonna happen. Does that make it okay? No. But don't go after a whole section because of that. The 208/209 regulars, and also the Crazies, though I don't like them as much, are the main reason the Rock has become a good home ice, especially for big games. Don't knock those guys, they can take some credit for a couple of wins with the noise they generate. The cheers they start do as much to ignite the lower bols, at least the real fans down there, as Cameron, AKA Pile of AIDS.

DEV1LDR1VER
I could care less about him, but don't have enough interest to hate him. I find him creepy for wiping his sweat on shirts before giving them out. And I don't see it appropriate for fans to 'undress him' to get his outer t-shirt. Baumann was not as exciting at the Meadowlands, but him getting the crowd going was cool since he was a STH.

langenmuffin
The guy is seriously annoying as fvck. I like Crasher's idea- let the mascot or one of the dancers throw the t-shirts. Save the franchise $2,000 a night. That's what they used to do back when they had the girls that weren't "dancers" but more a fan-interactive team. Now they don't want the dancers to have to do anything other than dance and escort contestants during Score-o (and that's only because they have a contract with Ford and Lincoln Mercury). If you ask me, I think they should have kept the old girls in addition to the dancers. They really don't do much of anything anymore. Remember when there used to be an activity every intermission (not to mention way more contests during tv timeouts). Don't get me wrong, some of the contests were lame, but I would much rather watch sumo hockey for 5 mins than listen to pre-recorded PA reads the whole intermission. Plus, those girls made like $50/game. Even if there were 8 of them working, the team would still be saving $1200. I don't know many people who would rather look at a nasty sweaty guy than a bunch of girls (even if they weren't all hot, they were all MUCH more attractive than the dancing moron). devilsfan26
Me too. The attendance jokes should be slowly but surely coming to an end. I doubt it, we still have people insisting that we use the trap.
langenmuffin
The guy is a clown but he is GOOD for the crowd thus good for the team. He's a motivator. Let him do his job. As if this were the only reason the "crazies" are retarded. He's "good" for the section he's in at the time. The rest of the arena wants to strangle him. I can't believe how often they put him up on the jumbotron. It gets old really fast, especially if you're nowhere near the section. I think what it comes down to is sweaty guy throwing shirts = bad, sweaty guy in Devil costume throwing shirts = entertaining. At least the mascot has some personality and doesn't gross people out. They should just go back to letting him throw the shirts and save the $2,000 a night.

And I thought a bunch of those girls were really cute, they get a bad rap. Not as hot as the current dancers mind you, but some of them were very cute. Even the women can't argue with this logic. Am I right ladies? I doubt it, we still have people insisting that we use the trap. True. But all of those attendance jockeying Ranger and Flyer fans should look at a boxscore and keep their filthy traps shut with their "OMG YOU GUYS CAN'T EVEN SELL-OUT A PLAYOFF GAME OMG LOL!!" bullsh!t. Those days are clearly over.

Yea whenever we got that it was usually while both of their teams were no longer playing so I simply responded by asking "What was the attendance at the Rangers/Flyers game last night, zero?" moj8681
To everyone bashing Cameron: Don't hate the guy because he makes bank doing something you wish you thought of. The last time I checked, no one has stepped up to fill the role of the new Baumann. If Baumann was still doing his shtick, or some other fan's passion-turned-cheering caught on in the arena, I doubt the Devils would have to hire someone to do it (even though Cameron's function is different from Baumann). And bring back last year's Power Players? I'm sure they are very nice people, but for the love of god, please stop.

It's not meant as an indictment against anyone who does start chants, because there are people. But EVERYONE knew where Baumann was and when he got going. I have yet to see anyone in the new building recognizable like that on a regular basis.

Yeah, everyone knew Baumann, but someone HAS been doing the chants (and I guess it's you, ot98 ... good work!). And as for the last group of Power Players, they were a good bunch of girls. One of them (I forget her name) actually got hired to dance with the new girls. She's the best-looking one of the bunch, if you ask me. Amy, I think? She was definitely head and shoulders above the girls last year, and she's still one of the better looking ones this year. I've never noticed anyone consistently getting the chants started. I don't sit up in the 200 level though, where I know it's louder. But I never sat up there in the Meadowlands either. Baumann got the whole arena going back there. My point is that is a void that has yet to be filled. There are small pockets of loudness, but unless it's a Rangers Suck chant (sigh), there's rarely anything that is arena-wide. I don't what that catalyst has to be. Calling all Devils fans with a lot of bass in their voice. YOU can be the new Baumann. No references needed.
