maxpower
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=286236 it'll be interesting to see what the terms are. just to see how eroded his market was in the NHL.
Devs4LIFE
I know not everyone will agree with this but I was kind of hoping we could have signed him for a year.

Toby Flenderson: HR Rep
He's 39 years old and he's coming off hip surgery. Thank God Lou didn't sign him. I'd rather see what Corrente or Eckford can do rather than watching a hobbled dman who misses every other game. Congrats to the KHL for stealing away a great dman that's past his prime. He's also an American citizen. it's doubtful. more likely than not he got an extra year that he can't get in the NHL.
LucifersDog
I read that at Zubrus leaving for Russia, I got excited =[ Wouldn't that be great if he left the Devils. He won't leave he doesn't have to produce (assuming he could produce in the first place) and he get paid the big bucks. He loves Lou. He's producing exactly how he has his entire career, except for when he benefited for... uhmmm... some scrub named Alexander Ovechkin. Zubrus is doing exactly what I think he should be doing. We overpaid for him as he was a UFA, but your contract doesn't dictate who you are... its more just indicative of the UFA market/year. 96-97 PHL 68 games, 21pts 97-98 PHL 69 games, 33pts 98-99 PHL/MTL 80 games, 16pts 99-00 MTL 73 games, 42pts 00-01 MTL/WSH 61 games, 26pts 01-02 WSH 71 games, 43 pts 02-03 WSH 63 games, 35 pts 03-04 WSH 54 games, 27 pts 05-06 WSH 71 games, 57 pts 06-07 WSH 60 games, 52 pts ----> BUF 19 games, 8 pts 07-08 NJD 82 games, 38 pts 08-09 NJD 82 games 40 pts

Triumph
if zubrus left the devils would certainly be worse off for this year
devilsrule33
if zubrus left the devils would certainly be worse off for this year Of course...but it would make Devils games easier to watch and the cap relief would be better in the long-run. Devs3cups
Zubrus is gone so what??? The guy has always been overrated. Big guy who doesn't bring much to the game. My two cents.

It would be better long term, he is signed for 4 more years. the devils and the free agent market are so weak at center that i am not even sure this is true in the next 2 years. here's the top centers: marleau jokinen savard modano koivu cullen kesler the top 3 are unaffordable even without zubrus. modano's probably not leaving dallas, although one never knows. koivu will be a year older. cullen is a lot of meh. kesler, who knows what kind of contract he'll get. i guess the idea is the devils could sign malhotra, use elias/rolston as C, then sign like, cullen.
