Ducks won't trade Niedermayer

"Scott's going nowhere," Murray told the Register. "He was in New Jersey and some writer decided to make some trouble in Anaheim. Scotty is going to retire as an Anaheim Duck, whenever that might be. As far as I'm concerned, Scotty can play for the Ducks as long as he wants.

That's too bad. Obviously, we should always take GM's words with a grain of salt. I still think they might trade Nieds if they keep struggling and are out of playoff contention. But Murray's statement might mean an eventual buyer will have to give up more than some think to get Scotty.

GMs lie or tall half-truths all of the time.

If the Ducks are out of it by the deadline, Murray would be a fool not to at least listen to offers out there.

Before we got Langenbrunner in 2002, his GM also said he wasn't getting traded, so you never know. But as much as I love Scott and would like to see him come back and finish his career here, I don't think it's going to happen. We really need to move on because I don't think he's going to come here

Everybody's got a price.

for the Million Dollar Man?

I think Anaheim wants to claim Niedermayer as theirs... like we did with Stevens from Washington. I'm not sure they can because he will retire early.

I also think, it was just complete speculation based off just simple logic - that if Anaheim isn't in the playoff run, they will dump what they can.

No comparison as Steven's greatest success as a player came wearing the NJ logo, as did Niedermeyer.

Scott doesn't like the way Lou treat him so if he is going to be a NJ Devs again unless it will be about money and being with his brother he has no loyalty towards the Devils. I like Scott always have but he was screwed by Lou over and over.

WHAT?????? Lou treated Scott like gold. He offered him more money to stay in NJ, but Scott left to be closer to his family, play with his brother as well as to establish himself as a leader without having the legend of Scott Stevens haunting him.

Lets review this in February. This could happen, I know Nieds loved playing for the Devils.

Scott and Lou had difficulties resolving every, I mean every, contract. Scott held out a number of times. Scott knew he was good if not the best and wanted every dollar and Lou was/is cheap, that says it all. Lou walked on him at every contract time and Scott fought back each time. That is why Scott waited to the very end to tell Lou he was leaving for the Ducks and his brother. Lou financial offers always have some type of wrinkle like a $7,000,000 offer but it would be back end loaded. He did the same with Holik when he went to the Rangers it was not a dollar for dollar offer, they had wrinkles.
