The Rangers did have to go out and make a bunch of costly trades and recruit a whole lot of ex-Oilers to win that Cup. At least the Devils built their own identity in winning theirs. They didn't have to go out and borrow someone else's. Let's not forget his guarantees that he would bring the Canucks to the playoffs, and that he would bring the Rangers back to the playoffs when he returned to New York! Nobody ever mentions those guarantees. Nobody ever mentions that he demanded to wear 11 in Vancouver even though the number was unofficially retired for a player who passed away. Is there a place that has old rosters of teams? I tried looking through trans logs but free agents leaving doesn't really show up on a team's trans log.
