Rock Posted February 5, 2010 Share Posted February 5, 2010 NJ Devils GM Lou Lamoriello flew to Washington to pick up Ilya Kovalchuk http://www.nj.com/devils/index.ssf/2010/02/gm_lou_lamoriello_personally_w.html On Thursday, after acquiring Ilya Kovalchuk in a major trade, Lamoriello flew to Washington to personally escort the high-scoring winger back to New Jersey. The Atlanta Thrashers were in Washington, where they will face the Capitals Friday night. Kovalchuk skated primarily with center Dainius Zubrus and right winger Jamie Langenbrunner during the skate. I remember seeing an article detailing all the things Lou did to make Scott feel welcome, anybody have that handy? It was a feel good story especially with hindsight.
