cubanjd305
Allright. Over the past few weeks I've noticed a frightening tendency that has just become way too obvious over the past two games. The Devils have become the softest team in the league seemingly. For a while now I've seen guys getting roughed up, our goalie getting run over, big hits.....and absolutely no response from the guys. Obviously after the Carter deal to see no fight in a game vs. the Flyers...a team against which always seems to have two fights, has just blown the softness out of this world. I know that Alberts or Leblond don't have problems dropping the gloves, yet they did nothing last game. Is this the work of Lemaire??? If so......WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MadDog2020
This is a big issue for me too... I understand they're in a slump, but the fact that they're playing like a bunch of pussies bugs the sh!t out of me more than anything. Show some fvcking balls. I started NOTICING it (probably later than it actually started), even before the "slump" started....they've just been soft. No big hits, no policing, no retaliation. Opposing teams can beat the crap out of Brodeur (physically...not scoreboard-ally), and they just seem to skate towards the bench

I don't know if it's Lemaire or what, but it needs to change. It's amazing how much this team misses Clarkson. Hopefully, they'll start taking some of their cues in the physicality department from him when he gets back.
Vic Rattlehead18
i've been complaining for a while that we never hit. I don't know who's counting hits for those game stats we see after each period. I'm thinking the players are too worried about putting themselves out of position and getting the scold from Lemaire. FightingMongoose
Something I've been saying over and over game about what we've been lacking is aggression. It's been so glaring these last two games that it's a big focus for everyone now. With any luck, maybe the team will actually take notice and take steps to fix this: STEP UP AND PUT THE BODY ON 'EM. ThreeCups
We should be renamed the "New Jersey Marshmallows" and change our jersey color to pink. It is sickening how soft we are. It is even eating Dano inside. I do not know what we need to wake this squad up, but I think it starts with every player going out every shift throwing the body as often as possible. We need to respond in a big way against Nashville on Friday.
Shtikl
Marshmallows aren't soft enough. Whoopee Cushions is more like it...
devils102
Marshmellow soft as was said above. We need to crash the net more.

95Crash
I agree that the Devils look soft. And it bugs me too. Daneyko was harping on this exact point in the pregame and postgame shows tonight. He basically said that the Devils needed to rough up both Carter and Richards a little bit -- not to necessarily take them out but to at least remind them that they are in a hockey game and will not be able to glide right into the Devils zone and do whatever the hell they want. Dano said it is up to the players, not Lemaire, to decide to do it. Edited February 11, 2010 by 95Crash

No player that plays considerable minutes seems like the type of guy to do this. Clarkson is exactly what we need, but who really knows when he is going to return. Someone in this lineup *RIGHT NOW* needs to make a stand against this pu$$y hockey we have been playing....
Sickman
Soft like a sh!t sandwhich? I love it. They let Carter own them these last 2 games. "Here Anssi, eat this shoulder, nobody will do anything about it anyway. And watch how I score these 2 game tying goals and then set up shop in front of your goalie for tonight's game winner." It is sad but true. Carter nearly singlehandedly turned what should have been a 3-1 Devils team over the past 4 games to a 1-3 team......... I understand they're in a slump, but the fact that they're playing like a bunch of pussies bugs the sh!t out of me more than anything. Show some fvcking balls. After witnessing the Devils physically beat the sh*t out of teams during the 90's, watching this garbage makes me want to vomit in my mouth. They have no killer instinct. In addition to this recent skid...if last year's shameful exit at the hands of the Hurricanes wasn't proof enough that this team lacks any cajones, I dont know what is. It just pains me to hear Daneyko talk about how soft they're playing and then speak about how he and Stevens never would have tolerated the crap dished out by Jeff Carter on Monday night. Stevens in particular would have made sure Carter paid dearly the next time around. I dunno what to say anymore. They just look like a half-hearted bunch out there who expect to lose. NewarkDevil5
Its not just being soft insofar as not hitting the other team, but its going so far as to giving up the puck to avoid being hit. I've never seen a professional (or collegiate) hockey team shy away from hitting as much as this one. It is absolutely shameful. The only guys not afraid to get hit on the team are Zubrus and Langenbrunner. Even our defensemen are acting as though getting hit might cause them to wither up and die. PaDevsFan
This is a big issue for me too... I understand they're in a slump, but the fact that they're playing like a bunch of pussies bugs the sh!t out of me more than anything. Show some fvcking balls. Funny I have been saying that for several games now in the chat room and I get bashed by certain members here. Told I dont know what I am talking about... This team is soft and has been soft for not only this "slump" (which is more than a slump) but for a few years now. They are SO EASY to play against. They have no gritty forwards, no physical defencemen. I mean I know and i was already told about it that we arent the Devils of years ago, but there are no Lemieuxs, no Stevens, no McKays, no Danykos on this team. No players that make it tough for the other team to skate through the neutral zone with the puck. NO players that when they see Zach Parise consistently being beaten up either by Pronger, or by some Ranger with a cross check to the face go after them and make it known that someone has to pay. Someone said last night there is nobody in the league that can make Pronger not do what he does. I counter that with if you cant stop Pronger, then you do what the other team is doing. Yo make it painful for the other team period. Scott Stevens never said I am only gonna hit certain players... He hit offensive "stars" (Kariya) supposed nice guys (Francis) . This team has no body that can give a little nastiness back. That is certainly a problem that has been here more than this month and a half of inconsistent play. Also it isnt just the hitting and policing. This team doenst get dirty. I have been saying for weeks when is someone going to go to the freaking net??? The winning goal last night who was in front of Marty?? I think it was Carter. This team skates around in the offensive zone and tries to cycle it but never sends anybody to crash the net. We take many many point shots with NO ONE in front. We arent going to score from the point with no one in front. Thedn I hear Captain Jamiew after the game saying we need to go to the net?? WELL THEN DO IT! Start with yourself show the others the way!! Edited February 11, 2010 by PaDevsFan

cubanjd305
When Elias and Greene lay the "biggest" hits for your team in a divisional game, against an opponent that beat us two nights ago and knocked out of the game one of our players....says it all huh?
