T-Devs to Play in AC...

From today's Press of AC:

Solid choice for a new venue - move the game deeper into Flyer country, to a town that previously didn't support championship-caliber hockey, and to a venue that, while historic and beautiful, is awful for hockey.

Looks like those 4 A-Devs games not in Albany will be at the Rock.

While it would make more sense for the four Albany "home away from home" games to be played at the Rock rather than AC, it's already common knowledge that Boardwalk Hall will host four AHL games this season. I suppose it's possible that deal fell through, but until we hear more, I'm chalking this idea that Trenton will play the only professional game of the year at Boardwalk Hall up to poor reporting.

Sounds great, what's the difference draw 500-700 in Trenton or 300-400 in a building that as Ballsack points out blows for hockey. Maybe as an incentive they'll allow the first 50 cars that show up for the game to park rinkside at the open end of the ice. Not to mention as Lous scrotum points out even deeper into Flyers county.

Can't argue the marketing game plan, it only gets better.

Good deal though buy a partial STH plan and get a beach towel, by a full season and get well no towel.

Goarmy has it dead on there was no support from the casinos, the Bullies did have a small tropicana patch on their sweaters at one point but it was just a token. The place is like a morgue on game night, only a c-hair better than Trenton most nights.

I wonder if anything will be any different this time around for the T-Devils (and maybe A-Devils) than it was for the Boardwalk Bullies now that the state is taking over. I know Christie has been chirping about making the city more family-friendly and Vegas-like. Maybe this fits in to all of that somehow? :noclue:

I just can't see AC becoming family friendly anytime in the near future. Seems kinda pointless to me :noclue:

And I don't think a minor-league hockey team is 'just the thing' the city needs to get going in the right direction anyway.

Atlantic City has failed a minor league team and a Hockey Franchise. The owner from both teams blamed the Casinos...

This is exactly why the Bullies and Surf both failed. The casinos are the only potential corporate audience and they have absolutely no incentive to encourage fans to leave their floors to watch a sporting event. A 3 hour hockey game is 3 hours that they're not bleeding you dry at the slots.

This, like nearly every other "marketing" idea the T-Devs have had, will fail miserably.

Will be a bust for sure. I hope that Albany does play some games there though, I can kill 2 birds with one stone when in AC. I am also waiting for the AHL schedule to come out so I can plan some Albany trips. Should be an exciting team this year!

Poor choice of words :giggle:

If the Devils had kept the Trenton Titans name they would have been fine in Trenton. But having a team named Devils in the Philadelphia media market was just stupid.

Kudos my friend that's a quality dead on post right there. The misguided arrogance that just rolling out the logo would somehow be enough to fill seats in that part of the state has worked out great hasn't it.

Maybe they should call them the Trenton Flyers.

I am sure Lou would love that.

Especially with the rousing success of the logo while we played at CAA.
